“Faith As The Grain Of The Mustard Seed”

“Faith As The Grain Of The Mustard Seed”
Author: Pat Aman

I have learn that when you step out on faith, God can do great and mighty things.

(Matthew 17: 14-20 NIV), says, ” And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, knelling down to Him and saying, “Lord have mercy on my son for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples but they could not cure him.”Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, why could we not cast it out? So Jesus said to them, “because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

God has a way for getting your need met. Your problem solved. That way is rooted in your faith’s becoming a seed.

Seed Faith. When you plant a seed, God changes the nature of that seed so that it becomes a plant, and the power of life surges in that tender young plant to such a great extent that even a mountain of earth cannot stop it from pushing upward.

Jesus says our faith in God is like a seed. When we put our faith into action, that is, when we release it to God, it takes on a totally new nature. It takes on the nature of a miracle in the making.

What is the mountain in your life?

Loneliness, loss of a job, disease, a wounded relationship, trouble in your home? Something else? Be encouraged! Jesus shows the way to see that mountain removed.

First, God says that you have a measure of faith (Romans 12:3 NIV) says, “For I say through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” It is resident with you.

Second, God says that this faith comes alive by hearing the word of God. (Romans 10:17 NIV) “So then faith comes by hearing, and haring by the Word of God.”

Third, God says that you can apply your faith to see your daily needs met. How? You do something as an act of your faith. You sow the mustard seed smallness of your faith into an action of love. . .

(Matthew 17:20 ) So Jesus said to them, “because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Then, when your faith has been planted and is growing, speak to your mountain and watch God set about its removal.

Father God hears the prayers of His children.

This is a true story that I read in Readers Digest a few years ago. There was an elderly woman who had to cross a mountain to go to church. Each Sunday and Wednesday she would walk over the mountain until she soon with age was not able to attend to the hard task. She begin to pray and ask God to remove the mountain so she could go to church. Every morning for one year she would get out of bed, go to her door and say “thank you God that you have move the mountain.” The one morning a year later she was awaken by aloud noises out side her door. She jump up, went to the door and saw a line of bull dozers and trucks. She got dress and went out side to see what was taking place. The contractor told her that they were taking the mountain down to build a mall.
Hey guess what? God not only removed the mountain, but he gave her cement to walk on all the way to the church. Oh yea, and a place close to her house to go shopping.

See, God does not do it half way. He is a loving God. We may not understand why things happen, but God knows the whole picture.

I Want To Be First

I Want To Be First
Author: Pat Aman

“Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him. And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.” But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.” So He said to them, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20:20-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Let’s think about this mother’s question. She was asking for great favor for her two sons.

They are full of confidence in themselves. They think they deserve this opportunity and reward. They think they can handle whatever comes.

Does this sound like us, sometimes.
We asked God for things He knows we cannot handle. He whispers to us in his soft voice, trying to lead us into the right path. But, we are stubborn and shellfish at times.

We want to act like little children who want more information than we can process and more experience than we can handle, so we act like younger siblings wondering why we can’t have the same privileges as out much older brother or sister.

While there may be a very good explanation for their mother’s question, the answer is beyond their grasp to understand. The two sons had no clue what they were signing up to do, but some day later, they would.

Do we get ahead of The Almighty God, the creator of Heaven and Earth, and try to act like we are ready to handle things ourselves?

Do we absolutely ask God for things we have no clue what we are asking?

Hum, maybe we need to not only ask, but learn too listen!

“Who Takes Care Of Who?”

“Who Takes Care Of Who?”
Author: Pat Aman

Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

Our dog Cali for instance, makes me wonder?

Yes, we take good care of Cali. We feed her well, (people tell us that Cali eats better then we do) look after her health, (with the help of my daughter Anna, and Stage Road Animal Hospital), keep her warm in winter and cool in summer. I give her affection, play with her, and try to teach her how to live in a world of people.

My friends tells everyone that Cali behaves better then some children do.

But in return. Cali gives me the freedom to feel safe in my home. I am protected at all hours. In the darkness I can walk outside without fear. Why? Because Cali will protect me. And she knows mama is backing her up with a 38 in my pocket.

And she will either give you kisses are make you get back in your car. Not with her actions, or being aggressive, she just has a deep bark. But, it is all according to my actions, toward you.

She gives me companionship, even when I’m not good company for anyone else. It’s amazing how my low spirits can soar when a cold nose pushes against my arm and a toy finds its way into my hand.

Cali is spoiled and loves to give love and get attention. And I love and give her attention. Cali can be laid back, are ready to run and play.

She is gentle as a lamb, and loves it when the grandchildren come to visit. She will sit in her recliner and keep a tender watch over them.

She loves the children in the neighborhood, but I feel she might would be upset, if she thought any of them would be in danger.

If she sees something in the yard, she will come get us, and have us check it out.

Nothing can be out of place in the neighborhood, she will bark her deep bark until she sees we have it covered.

See, Cali’s got our back. And we try to care for her, as much as she cares for us.

So, who takes care of who? Love doesn’t keep score. I like to think that maybe I manage to give God a little something back for all the care He gives me. But I’m glad He doesn’t insist on it.

Just like Cali, knows when I do not want to talk, play, are let her sit in my lap. God also knows the times when I am feeling a little down and my Spirits are low. And just as Cali will wait for she knows that soon I will come around and play with her. God also knows that I will come around and call on Him.

Cali never leaves me, she just sits on her bed and waits.

God also never leaves me. He waits patiently for me to come back to Him. Then He loves, guides and helps me in all of my life weary times and good times.

(Isaiah 41:10) says, Fear thou not; For I am with thee……I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee…)

God is always there to help me and you, even when we do not feel worthy to be loved. He is always there to protect and watch over us.

God just like Cali, looks at our heart with His big loving eyes, and says, ““Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭

Today, God is waiting on you. He is ready to work things out for you. He is ready to make you happy and laugh. So, snuggle up in the loving arms of your Father God today.

Father God, help me be the person today, that my dog thinks I am…..

Whose Your Daddy?

Whose Your Daddy?
Author; Pat Aman
6/15/2019

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15:48-49‬ ‭“As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”

Colossians 1:12
(We are) giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

As I am thinking about Father’s Day, I want to share a story and a little history. I do not remember who wrote this story, but it is worth sharing wit you.

A Seminary professor was vacationing with his wife in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. One morning, they went for breakfast at a little restaurant, hoping to enjoy a quiet, family meal. While they were waiting for their food, they noticed a distinguished looking, white haired man moving from table to table, visiting with the guests. The professor leaned over and whispered to his wife, “I hope he doesn’t come over here.” But sure enough, the man did come over to their table.

“Where are you folks from?” he asked in a friendly voice.

“Oklahoma,” they answered.

“Great to have you here in Tennessee,” the stranger said.

“What do you do for a living?”

“I teach at a seminary,” the professor replied.

“Oh, so you teach preachers how to preach, do you? Well, I’ve got a really good story for you.”

And with that, the gentleman pulled up a chair and sat down at the table with the couple.

The professor groaned and thought to himself, “Great, just what I need–another preacher story!”

The man started, “See that mountain over there?” (He pointed out a restaurant window). “Not far from the base of that mountain, there was a boy born to an unwed mother. He had a hard time growing up, because every place he went, he was always asked, “Hey boy, who’s your daddy?” Whether he was at school, in the grocery store or drug store, people would ask the same question, “Who’s your daddy?” He would hide at recess and lunchtime from other students. He would avoid going into stores because that question hurt him so much.

When he was about 12 years old, a new preacher came to his church. He would always go in late and slip out early to avoid hearing the question, “Who’s your daddy?” But one day, the new preacher said the benediction so fast, the boy got caught and had to walk out with the crowd. Just about the time he got to the back door, the new preacher, not knowing anything about the young man, put his hand on his shoulder and asked him, “Son, who’s your daddy?”

The whole church got deathly quiet. He could feel every eye in the church looking at him. Now everyone would finally know the answer to the, question, “Who’s your daddy?”

The new preacher, though, sensed the situation around him and using discernment that only the Holy Spirit could give, said the following to the scared little boy. “Wait a minute! I know who you are. I see the family resemblance now. “You are a child of God.” With that he patted the boy on his shoulder and said, “Boy, you’ve got a great inheritance. Go and claim it.”

The boy smiled for the first time in a long time and walked out the door a changed person. He was never the same again. Whenever anybody asked him, “Who’s your Daddy?” he’d just tell them, “I’m a child of God.”

The distinguished gentleman got up from the table and said, “Isn’t that a great story?”

The professor responded that it really was.

As the man turned to leave, he said, “You know, if that new preacher hadn’t told me that I was one of God’s children, I probably would never have amounted to anything!” And he walked away.

The seminary professor and his wife were stunned. He called the waitress over and asked, “Do you know that man who just left that was sitting at our table?”

The waitress grinned and said, “Of course. Everybody here knows him. That’s Ben Hooper.
He’s the former governor of Tennessee!”

So, I asked you today, “Whose Your Daddy?”

Your Plans

Your Plans
Author: Pat Aman…
June 12, 2019

Have you ever made plans, and they did not work not work out?

Oh, boy, can I raise my hands to yes on that question!

Now, I will asked you a bigger question, “did you asked God what He thought about your plans.”

I have found out the hard way, God has a sense of humor.

God seems to have a unique way of upsetting the plans we have made, when we have not taken His advice into account. He tells us in His word He is with us, and He will guide our path, if we just let Him.

“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD. Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.””
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1:4-12‬ ‭

We get ourselves into in a mess when we leave God out of our plans.

When if we had sit down (and had a little talk with Jesus, He would have made it aright), from the very beginning.

Jeremiah 29: 11-13. 11. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Seeking God in our lives is more than just words. It is a personal relationship.

When we are apart from God, we do not remember to take into account, everything that God would have already planned out. Things He knew that we would face. Obstacles that may occur.

We must realize God already knows about us. He knows our voice. He hears our prayers.

““It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:24‬ ‭

So, if you have hit bottom, and you think there is no way out. Reach up, for God is ready to reach down and set your feet on the right path.

Psalm 49: 1-3 1. I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.

HAVE A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS
(Cleavant Derricks)

I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven filled my soul
It bathed my heart in love and it wrote my name above
And just a little talk with my Jesus made me whole

Have a little talk with Jesus tell him all about our troubles
Hear our fainted cry answer by and by
Feel a little prayer wheel turning know a little fire is burning
Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

Sometimes my path grows drear without a ray of cheer
And then a cloud of doubt may hide the day
The mists of sin may rise and hide the starry skies
But just a little talk with Jesus clears the way
Have a little talk with Jesus…

I may have doubts and fears my eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
I go to him in prayer he knows my every care
And just a little talk with my Jesus makes it right

Have a little talk with Jesus…
Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

I Can Hardly Imagine

I Can Hardly Imagine
Author: Pat Aman
May 28, 2019

Tonight Joe and I watched the movie, “I Can Only Imagine.”

The first time I heard this song, I had to pull the car over and praise God, as tears of joy and love over-poured from my spirit.

I did not even know the meaning or heart break and restoration that the writer of the great song went though, in his life.

As we watched the movie, ‘I Can Only Imagine’ we learned that the lead singer of MercyMe, Bart Millard shares his journey which inspired the famous song. Bart’s past became a defining and controlling factor in his life. In order to become spiritually healthy, he had to recall the past: his mother’s absence, his father’s abuse, and his own leaving.

On some level, we can all resonate with Bart’s past and had hurts growing up.

Romans 14:11 11It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the LORD, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'”Philippians 2:9-11 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.

So, what is God like?

First, John says that God is a father. By sending “his one and only Son,” God demonstrates that fatherhood is central to his identity and being. He has eternally existed as a Father, and the Son, Jesus Christ, has eternally enjoyed the fellowship of a good and perfect Father.

Second, John twice writes the famous words: God is love. God is not simply loving or full of love; He is love. In other words, love is not the primary thing and God secondary; “love comes from God,” meaning love can only be understood as an offspring of God’s nature.

Third, John tells us that God is for us. The Father did not wait for us to find our way to Him; we could never make it on our own, not given our sin against Him. God demonstrates his love for us—you and me and the whole world—by sending his only Son, so “that we might live through him.”

We must realize that we are adopted into our Heavenly Father’s family. But, for us to be adopted it required the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Adoption came at a great cost to the Father. We were adopted by God for the same reason that any parent adopts, out of sheer love. We are adopted “in love” and “to the praise of his grace” (Ephesians 1:4-6). God is not just full of love; God is love. Love is just an expression of God being God.

In his great love, he plans adoption, pays the cost, becomes our Father, unites us to a whole family of brothers and sisters, offers us his immeasurable wealth, and gives us the assurance that nothing can separate us from him.

He is our:

  • Elohim (God)
  • Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)
  • El Elyon (The Most High God)
  • Adonai (Lord, Master)
  • El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)
  • El Olam (The Everlasting God)
  • Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
  • Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who Heals You)
  • Jehovah Nissi (The Lord Is My Banner)
  • El Qanna (Jealous God)
  • Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)
  • Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
  • Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)
  • Jehovah Raah (The Lord Is My Shepherd)
  • Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
  • Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)

Can we even realize or imagine what it will really be like when one day we return to our Heavenly Home?

What will we do when we stand before Father God?

I myself, can only just imagine. Because Father God has shown me more grace and mercy than I deserve.

On my, I can hardly even imagine….

I Can Only Imagine
MercyMe
I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagineSurrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagineI can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I would do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagineSurrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?

Where Is The Salt?

Where Is The Salt?
Author: Pat Aman
5/30/2019

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

What is it about salt? And how do I season speech with it? Gracious speech is sweet, yet Paul says to season it with salt.

Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

If you go to one of our daughter’s home, you will find every kind of special salt. Himalayan salt you will find. Sea salt you will find. But forget about just regular old salt.

And I will not even get into, no Sugar, no Crisco Shortening.

Now you will find a butter called Ghee, or a coconut butter or shortening, but normal stuff, forget it.

Now she does have spices, yes, all the organic spices in the world. And I have learned to cook at her house using these items.

I did find out that using coconut shortening on your turkey at Thanksgiving makes the brownest sweetest tasting turkey.

But, back to the salt.

I have had to learn to measure out the correct amount of salt that she has in her house. Because you can put a little to much Himalayan-salt before you realize and when I did, there was no saving that meal. Not even by adding potatoes to the pot. But the salt added correctly, the meal had a robust taste.

We know that salt carries all the other flavors to a new level of palatability. It brings a wonderful balance to whatever we maybe cooking.

Take out the salt in any recipe and there’s something vital missing.

Let’s think about it for a second. What is it about salt? By itself, salt doesn’t taste so great. It’s too strong. Yet add it to the recipe and its power becomes the very thing which brings life to the food.

I think salt is that one Spice of God’s truth that enhances, preserves and strengthens us.

What about the words that come from our mouths?

Speech seasoned with salt will encourage or warn, it will impart life and prevent decay from setting in, or stop it in its tracks.

Think about back before the ice boxes, refrigerator, and freezers. People cured their meat with salt. They were able to hang their meat in smoke houses, and cellars as long as it was salted, which kept the meat from decaying.

When I watched my Mawmaw Wade making butter out of the sweet cream that rose to the top of cow’s milk, she always added a little salt. It was just the right amount to keep that sweet taste of butter, but enhanced the flavor of the butter.

Salt is vital to life and salted speech is too.

As children of our Heavenly Father, we need to be “salty” in a world that is falling apart from the decay of sin.

Our message is sweet. God forgives, He loves, He brings eternal life. Yet these wonderful truths exist in an awful context of death and decay which we must not ignore by only speaking graciously. We must add salt.

Do you add the correct amount of salt to your vocabulary?

There Is Only One Of Me!

Have you ever felt like there needed to be three of you. I think that is how I have felt since March.

I have been so busy, that I am beginning to wonder, do I still have a bed at my house? I would love to find out.

Someone said to me this week,”how do you have the time to study and prepare devotions?”

Answer: I take the time. If I did not take the time to spend with my Father God, my life would be in turmoil.

Yes, there are times like today when devotions maybe repeated. But, that is when I feel maybe someone, yes, even myself needs to read it again.

Remember, without your time with Father God, would be like not taking a bath for days. You would begin to stink bad.

Nicodemus
Author: Pat Aman

(Isaiah 9:2) says, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death upon them hath the light shines.”

John 3 tells us that Nicodemus first came to Jesus under the cover of darkness, a questioner: “Who are you really? How can a man be born again?” Jesus answered his questions, and raised more. But John does not say that Nicodemus believed.

Perhaps he mulled the questions and answers over, for John 7 tells us he defended Jesus when other Pharisees accused him: “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” But John still does not say he believed.

Then, unexpectedly, John 19 shows Nicodemus performing an act of great faith. When Joseph of Arimathes took Jesus’ body down from the cross, Nicodemus came with expensive spices and helped anoint the body for burial.

According to Hebrew law this made him unclean, he could not celebrate Passover. Further, it publicly identified him with Jesus when even the disciples had fled.

I wonder when Nicodemus decided to believe in Jesus, in a blinding moment, or by a slow process of growth?

John’s way of telling the story of Nicodemus shows me that when we first believe is not what really matters. What matters is that we, like Nicodemus, finally arrive at Jesus, to offer our wealth, our reputation and our service.

Judging people is a fault in this world today. People read the papers, watch TV, the internet, and of course the gossiping mouths and believe everything without seeking the truth.

I feel that we do not need to judge someone until we walk in their shoes. Maybe even meet with the person that we are judging and find the true facts about the story. Then we would learned the truth as well as find out that the person is doing greater things in the community that is helping people.

So before you judge someone, remember God tell us that we should not judge our brother and sister, but lift them up in the Holy Love of God. Remember one day you may fall, and it just may be the person you have judged and torn down, that will be there to lift you up.

What Would Jesus Do?

What Would Jesus Do?
Author; Pat Aman
June 1, 2019

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7

Tonight I want to give memory and honor to where it is due.

My brother-in-law, J.B. was, and my sister, Ruby is one of the best-hearted people I know. It did not matter when friends, family, church, community, town or parish called them they were there, as soon as possible, no questions asked, and they never maked anyone feel like they were a bother. They were just that way.

They were hard workers, who worked a big farm.

But, one thing I remember is J.B. did not just plant a garden for them, but big enough for the community.

I have personally seen their living room floor covered with peas, butter beans, corn and anything else that could be put in their and others freezers for the winter months. And sitting around that living room would be neighbors shelling peas, or putting up corn.

At the end of the day or week, people’s freezers were full.

They would even let people pick on halves. In other words, you go to field and pick, and however much you pick you just bring half by the house for Ruby to put up in her freezer.

I was visiting one fall, when three grown men’s came to visit Ruby. J.B. has already made his heavenly journey home. These men came by to visit Ruby and thank her and J.B. for planting and sharing those vegetables with them and their mother.

They told Ruby, when they were young boys, they were not honest with her. And they wanted to apologize for not giving her what was agreed on. They said, we left some in the field and picked them up after we settled with you.

Ruby said, “I already knew you were doing that, but, I just let it go.

J.B. and Ruby even furnished nice houses for their farm workers. And Ruby cooked every meal at lunch for them. They would come from the field, and sit at their table and eat. Even their wives and children came and ate.

Now because of Ruby’s health she is in a Senior Care Facility. She cannot walk, but she just turned, 87 on May 28th. But, even though she cannot walk on her own, she has a Hot Rod Lincoln wheelchair. And daily she goes up and down the halls, checking on all the residents, and praying for them.

One individual who could not make it to the facility in time, told her daughters that Ruby did not let her mother died alone. Ruby was holding her hand as she took her last breath.

So, again I can say, Ruby knows what Jesus would do.🥰

Listen, I am bragging a little, but, I can honestly say, “ J.B. and Ruby knew the meaning to What Would Jesus Do!”

They did not judge people. They did not belittle people. They did not lie about people. They had a servants heart.

Tonight, I watched the movie once again, “What Would Jesus Do?”

A small town falling apart because of slander and greed.

But, a homeless man, came into the town, and with just a few words touched the hearts of the people.

Each person started thinking, is my decision going to make a difference? They started saying, “What would Jesus Do?”

I can tell you that J.B. And Ruby listened to God’s voice when it prompted them to do something for someone. They have been known to go against the better judgment of others around them and help people in need. They always gave the person a chance.

They have helped people in their community who needed help, in physical sickness, and financial problems, not asking for anything in return.

They were Good Samaritans….

Again, they knew, “What Would Jesus Do?”

In Luke 10:30-37, Jesus talks about another person who was stranded on a lonely stretch of road between Jerusalem and Jericho. Some thieves had stripped him of his clothes, wounded him, and left him half-dead. Can you imagine how demoralized he must have been? We don’t know how long he had been lying there, but after a period of time, a priest happened to walk by. I can just imagine that if the poor man had enough presence of mind to be coherent and see the priest, hope must have risen in his heart. A priest! Surely he would stop and help him and minister to his needs. But, do you know the priest did just the opposite of what you and I would assume he would do? When he saw the wounded man, he crossed over and walked on the other side of the road! Did he pretend it wasn’t happening? Did he feel a twinge of conscience as he left the man lying there? Did he think if he moved to the other side of the road where his cries for help weren’t so easy to hear, he would be excused of his moral obligation? Whatever his line of reasoning, he failed the poor man miserably.

Later, a Levite happened to pass by. Ah! Surely this time help had arrived! Levites were of the strictest religious order! They knew the law inside and out and followed it to the tee. So, that part about loving your neighbor as yourself, surely they knew it by heart, right? But, do you know what the Levite did? The Bible says, “when he (the Levite) was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.” He looked on him! He saw his condition! And he made the choice to walk away. How could he know the law so thoroughly and yet feel that he was justified in not carrying it out in everyday life? Did he happen to look over his shoulder and feel any remorse? Did the wounded man’s eyes plead with him for mercy and send a sting of guilt into his hardened heart? Whatever transpired, he kept walking, and the man kept suffering.

Then along came another person. I can just imagine the wounded man hearing footsteps coming nearer…and nearer…and with each sound of a step, his hope must have increased! But, what disappointment as the traveler drew near enough to see his face! A Samaritan! Hope was gone, he would never stop. Everyone knew Samaritans and Jews didn’t speak to each other. They didn’t interact; they avoided one another at all costs. There had been generations-long feuding between Jews and Samaritans, so why would this one be any different? But, wait! He was slowing down his pace. He was looking at him! What would he do? Would he finish him off and leave him all the way dead? Would he laugh when he saw his helpless plight? Or would he see the seriousness of his condition, then cross to the other side of the road like all of the others? Maybe the wounded man didn’t even want the Samaritan’s help, maybe he recoiled to think of him even touching him, so fierce was the hatred between the two races.

Whatever the thoughts in the two men’s minds, the Bible says, “…and when he (the Samaritan) saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow, when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.” This man went over and beyond the call of duty. He couldn’t ignore the injured man’s cries. He could not walk away and pretend it wasn’t happening. He couldn’t let their differences stop him from doing what was right.

Jesus went on to ask, “Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among thieves?” The correct answer was, “he that shewed mercy unto him”. Jesus replied, “Go, and do thou likewise.”

Sometimes, our neighbor is our enemy. Sometimes, our neighbor is different from us. Sometimes, our neighbor is one who has hurt us in the past and caused us pain. Sometimes, our neighbor is a stranger. Whoever it is, Jesus wants us to show mercy. It is much easier to turn away than to get involved in messy situations. But, did Jesus do that? Do you ever read of someone undesirable coming to Jesus and Him looking at them, then turning and going as far away from them as possible? Did He ever hold back His mercy just because the person was different or unfavorable? Has He ever been merciful to you, my friend? “Go, and do thou likewise”.

Maybe, we need to make a mental note in our hearts and mine, and start saying, “WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?”

Song
What Would Jesus Do?
Adam Gregory

They stopped saying prayers in school yesterday
And there’s a boarded up
Run down church
Down on third and main
The Mission’s overflowing
And the crime rate just keeps growing
And I’m not sure where it’s gonna stop.
But man, this world is all we got.
What would Jesus do in time like these?
Would He walk among the sinners,
Fall to His knees?
Heal the sick,
Save lost souls the way He used to?
Would he threw up his hands and just walk away?
Cry a tear for a world that’s gone astray.
I’m not sure, but God, Iwish I knew,
What would Jesus do?
What if He appeared right where you stand?
Could you look Him in the eye,
Reach out and take His hand?
Show Him how we are changing this place
Day by day with his amazing grace?
It doesn’t look like heaven on earth
So I have to ask,
Are we doing right?
What would Jesus do in time like these?
Would He walk among the sinners,
Fall to His knees?
Heal the sick,
Save lost souls the way He used to?
Would he threw up his hands and just walk away?
Cry a tear for a world that’s gone astray.
I’m not sure, but God, Iwish I knew,
What would Jesus do?
Would he threw up his hands just walk away?
Cry a tear for a world that’s gone astray.
I’m not sure, but God, I wish I knew,
What would Jesus do?
What would Jesus do?

God’s Got The Other End!

God’s Got The Other End!
Author: Pat Aman

Sometimes just living a Christian life is hard. And it should not be.

They feel like they are holding on to a frayed rope. And the rope is slowly slipping away.

A lot of times it takes a person hitting bottom, before they reach up to Father God.

Then when people hit bottom they get serious about situations in their lives. They not only pray but they realize it is time to fast.

I know I have ask for myself, Why? Yes, when wondering why bad things happen to good people.

I guess is it just human nature to ask why?

I wonder why my colon had to rupture and because of it, I had to go through seven major surgeries since it happen.

But see God sees the big picture, where I only see the present.

Just living a Christian life is not always easy. Sometimes it is just down right hard, and I feel that being in the ministry is double hard lately, because as I try my best to lift others up, I sometimes need lifting up myself.

I know that being in the ministry I have suffer all kinds of things. And I have prayed Lord, why must I suffer these things.

I have also told God that I didn’t particularly care to suffer these things. And He told me that He didn’t care for me to suffer that stuff either. Boy, does God’s answers blow your mind.

But God then told me, yes, things should have been different, people should have treated you better, your circumstances could of been better, but He then said, remember I will hold them accountable for it, as I hold you accountable for things when you do not listen to me.

You just preach the Word of God, and I’ll take care of you and your circumstances, and I’ll take care of ones who may cause you harm.

And He will too. God remembers all the sacrifices you and I have to make for Him in life. He’s keeping track of the way people treat you and me, and things we may go through that we cannot understand. And, He’s going to reward you and me for bearing it.

The Bible says, ” God keeps every one of your tears in a bottle.” (Psalm 56:8)

So if God can keep track of all our tears, don’t you think He sees all the little things we do through?
He certainly does, and one day He will reward us openly for our sacrifices.

But as we do go through, not so good things in our life, we need to study God’s word and seek direction. We need to not only pray, but then we need to tarry at the alter long enough to listen to His answer for us.

And sometimes we even need to fast and pray.

In (Daniel 1:8 and 17) Daniel did a 3 weeks fast. This fast was to show that God would take care of Daniel and his friends and make them healthier, more knowledgeable and skilled in learning, wisdom and understanding of all visions and things.

And in (Daniel 10) Daniel fasted for 3 weeks and God gave him understanding of things to come.

(Daniel 1: 8, 12 and 17) says, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank, there he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Prove they servant, I beseech thee, ten days, and let them give us pulse ( In Hebrew pulse means something sown, vegetable) to eat, and water to drink. And for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding i all visions and dreams.”

(Daniel 10:2-3) says, “In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, (In Hebrew pleasant was a root, and bread is grain)neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”

We know that Jesus fasted 40 days and nights in the wilderness to get ready for His ministry. And there are times that we need to set our face before God, with our mouths shut, so that we can receive wisdom, knowledge and understanding and direction.
If today, your facing life’s challenges and you feel that you are just holding on. Grab hold of that Rope tie a knot in the end and just hold on. Because God is holding on to the other end of the rope and He is not planning to let go.

Blessings, Love and Prayers,
Pastor Pat Aman
