Do What?

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

 Why are people always so quick to put the blame on God?

“God is too wise to ever make a mistake and too loving to ever be unkind…” Duane Pederson…

 2 Corinthians 12:7. ” And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.  8. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice that it might depart from me. 9. And he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

 God did not want Paul to exalt himself through the abundance of revelations given him, so He permitted him to have the thorn in the flesh to keep him humble.   

I am going to give you the simplest explanation of the thorn in the flesh that is possible.  It was  “the messenger, pronounced anggelos meaning angel of Satan. Anggelos is translated angel 179 times and messenger 7 times.     It is never translated disease or physical infirmity and never means any such thing.  An angel of Satan, one of the spirit beings, which fell with him, followed Paul and buffeted him when he was tempted to become exalted. 

2 Corinthians 11:23. Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. 25. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26. I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. 27. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been

cold and naked. 28. Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.

Paul lists in the above scriptures some of the things that this angel caused him to go through to keep him humble.  There is not a disease in the whole list.  Paul’s thorn must be understood in the same sense as the scriptures below, where the same thorn, if found in the Scriptures there. Were those giants and enemies of Israel diseases in their sides or the cause of their wars and other kinds of suffering?

Now, I know everyone has the right to his or her own beliefs.  But I can tell you that God does not, and will never give someone a disease or sickness.

God himself tells us in His Word how we need to take care of our bodies spiritually and physically. 

Sometimes we ourselves do not remember this, and when we do not take care of ourselves things will happen. But, that is our own doings, not God. We sure cannot blame it own God.  I also know that we, just as Jesus, and just as Paul told Timothy, that as a servant of Jesus Christ that we will have hardships.

These hardships come to remind us to be humble. Also, to keep us in line with God’s Word.  If not we would soon take God out of the picture and start believing we are the savior of our life, and not Jesus…

2 Timothy 2: 1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

 Remember we are free agents and God is a gentleman and will not force us to do anything that we do not want to do.  He gives us guidance and direction, but it is up to us the path we choose.

I do not know about you, but I choose not to be sick.  Jesus died that I might be well and healthly.

(Numbers 33:55 ” ‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.

Ezekiel 28:24 ” ‘No longer will the people of Israel have malicious neighbors who are painful briers and sharp thorns. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

If I can do anything, I hope that I can get you to search the scriptures and let God talk to you.  God Bless each of you.

Let Me Ask You, Has It Been Too Long?

I Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray Without Ceasing.”

I heard the old song today, “How Long Has It Been.”

Those words ring throughout my heart and mind.

How long has it been, since you talked to the Lord,
And told Him your heart’s hidden secrets?
How long since you prayed,
How long since you stayed,
On your knees ’til the light shone through?

In our world today we are hearing so much noise…

Even in our busy life-styles we do not even hear of many people that take the time to tarry at the altar. Everyone is in such a hurry to get home from church.

Then people are too busy to pray and spend time with God before they go to work and school.

We wonder why we do not recieve the answers to our prayers, could it be do not take the time to wait, sit still and listen. Yes, stay on our knees til the light has shone through.

Is your life filled with problems, sickness, heartache, anxiety and despair?

Then it is time we went back to the altar. Just as they did back when I was a child.

I remember a time when people were not in a hurry to leave church. I recall times when someone needed prayer everyone would gather around that old altar and as they say pray through. Yes, they prayed until they received and answer.

When my oldest daughter was 12 years old she had to have surgery. They said that it would last 9 to 12 hours. They also told us that she may be paralyzed from the surgery. She had scoliosis, which caused the spinal cord to be curved. Tara’s went from just a little curve that the doctor said we would keep an eye on, into a total “S” shape in less then 3 month.

I remember staying on my knees praying until the light shone through. I called out to God for healing for her body. I was determine that she would not be paralyzed.

I would not let go of God. I was like Jacob, I held on until I got my prayer answered. Yes, I held on and prayed until I knew with all of my heart that Tara would be blessed by God .

Jacob struggled with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with him. At Bethel, Jacob wrestled with an angel and won; then with tears in his eyes, he asked for a blessing, and God spoke to us there. he fought against an angel and won.

“Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beth–el, and there he spake with us;”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭12:4‬ ‭

She is now an adult and she water ski’s, snow ski’s, and does everything and anything she wants too. See mama prayed through.

So I asked you today, is there something in your life that you need to pray through?

Do you need to stay on your knees until the light has shone through?

Does your mind need to be at ease, and your heart to not be burdened?

Today, just kneel down, and call Jesus your friend, and hold on. Do not let go. Stay in prayer,until your recieve your answer.

God is still in the miracle working business.

What Are Your Giants

Let’s take a moment to talk about giants that we may have in our lives.

They maybe fear, addictions, low self-esteem, worry, hatred, anger, in other words anything that is not of God.

Sometimes we let things overwhelm us and not let God take care of them.

I wonder if David ever felt afraid for just a second of the Philistine giant, Goliath, in his life.

Goliath who was three to four times the height of David. He was wearing at least 278 pounds of Armor besides his own big body which could have weighed 400-600 pounds, being well over 13 feet tall.

He wore a bronze helmet, bronze leg plates, and a bronze javelined was strapped to his back. In his huge hand, he carried a spear. The point alone possibly weighed about twenty pounds. Goliath had a armor barrier who bare his shield that walked before him.

Goliath told David to come here and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field.

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with a sword, spear and javelin, but I come in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel 17:44 “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!

Before this, young David had taken his staff in hand, stooped down, and picked up five smooth stones and placed them in a pouch.

Let me stop here a second…Why did David pick up 5 stones?

Because Goliath had brothers–four of them. David knew there could well be the possibility that when he killed Goliath that his four brothers might try to extract revenge. So David prepared himself: he picked up five stones, one for each of the Philistian brothers.

Yes, David trusted in God to do what God could do. But he didn’t just leave it all up to God. David did what David could do to insure his own competence in the face of a challenge. David picked up five stones because he knew he must be prepared and he was prepared.

1 Samuel 17:40Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

With a Shepherd’s staff in one hand and a sling in the other he approached the giant. With one stone He flung the stone, an it hit Goliath in the head and killed him.

The key to this scripture is He came in the name of the Lord.

What are the giants in your life?

How can God help you overcome them?

I believe it is good not only to pray, but to turn to His Word for the answers. There are directions and power in prayer and God’s Word.

Whatever these giants are in our lives, we must not run from them. We must face them head-on as David did with Goliath.

Put on your spiritual armor and stand firm, unafraid, trusting God for strength. The exciting thing about all this is when we put on the full armor of God and obey Him, then we can stand back, call TIMBERRRR– and watch the giant fall!

Ephesians 6:10-18
10.Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

1. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
2. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
3. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
4. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
   15.and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace
5. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
6. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
7. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

How About A Holy Ghost Revival….

2 Chronicles 7:13, 14, “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

During the last 12+ weeks God has honored me to bring His Word to our local community.

Also, Lynward Brown has been working helping God’s church by tag teaming with me. He and Mrs. Juanita have been a blessing.

And EG and Brandy Peters have helped with organizing music on Sunday as well as having musicians come sing during the week. EG is the EG Peters Band…But, he has been singing Praise song’s for our services. He loves to sing Big Daddy Weaves songs…But he does a great job on all songs…

Terri BoWell has invided food trucks to come and worked hard to set dates up.

Our young children have sung, played their musical instruments and taken turns in leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

We even had graduation services for all our youth. I want to thank Brandy and Ms. Bennett Myers for the great job they did in preparation for the graduation service.

We have helped musicians that live in NC and are out of work and local food trucks to come and we support them.

Sensei West has been giving karate lessons twice a week.

And I cannot thank everyone enough for attending the services and keeping our community covered in prayer.

We have done all this for God’s glory while socially distancing.

People have been touched and lives changed. Our community has learned our neighbors names. We are having a Prayer Service Wednesday, tomorrow to pray for our Nation. 7pm…Please join us.

And we do not have a building, but a lot where we gather and sit in lawn chairs.
Some bring their umbrellas because of the sun and heat…

But God has blessed us because we have not had to cancel a Sunday because of rain. But God has allow His wind to blow…The natural wind and the Wind of the Holy Spirit.

Some of our group has returned to their home churches, but some of us are still coming together until the Lord leads us back to our church building, or directs us in a different path.

My prayer is the ones returning to their home churches, do not go back to the normal, but go with a renewed heart.

God is instilling new vision and new hope.

God has been good…

But as we read church signs, bulletin boards, newspaper articles that say, “Come to A Holy Ghost Revival, they seem to have forgotten one thing, an important invitation. They forget to invite the Holy Ghost when they make their invitation list.

Churches everywhere are seeking Revival, but none are preparing for the Revival. How do you prepare for Revival? Pray! Pray! Pray!

Too many churches have 3-day Revivals, some a week, but how many pray week after week, really understanding that Revival must begin with their own heart.

It is time churches stop saying, “Well, you know the week of June 6th or September 8th, will soon be here, and you know we must plan our yearly Revival.” Who are WE going to get to come preach our Revival?

It is time we decide to pray and have Revival all year long. No man or woman can bring a Revival to your church. If you do not pray and prepare, you will just have someone come, preach, and then when they leave, you will go back to the same routine of just attending church services. Yes, bored, dry, and no anointing at all. You will have the same few people, doing the same things, going on with the same programs.

If you want Revival, again, Pray! Pray! Pray!

Christians must seek the face of God on their knees. Churches must have corporate unity to bring the anointing, that will bring a true Holy Ghost Revival.

Too many people are seeking God for answers, and wanting to work for God, but they are not getting up off the pew and working to get the job done. You cannot just come to the church building week after week, and not do some foot work, and win lost souls to God. Remember, if Peter had not got out of the boat, he would have only known the disciples, but he took a step of faith and got out of the boat and met Jesus.

I do not know about you, but as I wrote the words above straight from my heart, I can tell you now, I want a real Holy Ghost Revival, and I am starting it within myself on my knees.

Our Nation needs restoration and it must begin with us on our knees.

I was reading the article below about the great Revival of 1799, and I want to share a quote with you.

I truly believe the quote from: Alex Dodson “We live in a day when the preaching of the Word of God has taken a back seat in many evangelical churches to other things. The great pulpits of the past have been removed and the stage opened up for the worship team. It is not that the worship team is doing something wrong but that what they do has priority over the preaching of the Word of God which used to be pre-eminent in our worship services. Many Christians no longer take the Bible seriously or have no confidence in much of what it says. We are living in a time of compromise. No longer is the Bible revered as the very Word of God. Even seminaries compromise with modern day science theories and philosophy. The whole Bible is not considered trustworthy anymore. Darwinian philosophy has taken the place of a truly Biblical and Christian philosophy in the public schools of this land and even in some Christian schools.”

In the last several months, I myself, have noticed that people do not even take their Bibles to church. The scripture is on a screen in the front of the building behind the pulpit, so why carry my Bible into the sanctuary?

Now that is not a problem, unless, it means that Christians cannot even find their Bibles anymore at home. If they are not taking the time to pick their Bible up and study God’s Word, their lives will become totally dormant.
And then we wonder, Humm, why am I having such a difficult day or week?

Pray, pray and pray some more.

God’s Conditions and God’s Promises – Part 1

It has been a great weekend enjoying family and our community graduation. 

There is so much violence going on in our country the last few days that I do not know what to say, except pray for our communities and our country. 

Tonight I really do not have to explain… These scriptures speak all that needs to be said….

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”John‬ ‭15:7-9‬ 

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Discombobulated

Well, all I can say is when I finish this devotion, you will think that I need to go to a doctor for sure.

We were watching the end of a “Tammy” movie today.

If you are our age or older, in which we will not go there, today please….You will remember the movies, Tammy and the Doctor, Tammy and the Millionaire, Tammy and the Professor.

Tammy was a young lady raised on a river boat by her grandfather.

Tammy had no Schoolin as they called it, which is not correct grammar, but still we understand. But I soon found out Tammy was smarter than I thought.

She said a word in the movie today that caught my attention.

She said, “Lordy, I am just discombobulated”.

Why this caught my attention beats me. Maybe I need to get out more. Joe just looked at me like, have you never heard the word discombobulated in Louisiana?

Anyway, I knew right off that Mr. Webster would not have the definition to this word, but I decided to look it up anyway.

I found discontinued, discontent, discomfort, huh, discomfort, and then suddenly there is was discombobulated. The Merriam-Webster had the word, meaning upset, confused, or etc.

Then a surprising thought came to my mind. I told Joe that I could see myself going to the doctor and upsetting his day with my discombobulated symptoms.

As we all know they come in reading your chart, not really listening to you. But they say, what seems to be your problem today?

Well, Doc. I am discombobulated. He looks at me out of the corner of his eye, as he pulls his palm pilot medical dictionary out of this pocket and proceeds to look up discombobulated.

I am guessing that this word is one he does not hear often and is not in his medical palm pilot. Maybe he is from Louisiana…..

He says, ” We need to run some test, or maybe see a specialist, or you can go home take two aspirins and call me in two days, if symptoms do not go away.”

I am thinking Specialist, then I can use my novel word again.

So, he sends me to a specialist who looks at me funny when I tell him I am discombobulated.

He checks me out and says, “I will send a report to your doctor in a few days. Until then go home and take two aspirins and call your local doctor is symptoms get worse.

Anyway by now I realized that I could have saved a lot of time and money, if I had just stayed home and taken two aspirins.

As we finished watching the movie, Tammy gives the definition for discombobulated. She says, again, ” I am just so discombobulated, just like a short dog in tall grass.”

I laughed at myself, and said thank you Lord, for letting me catch the trivial things you send my way to make me laugh.

So, whatever you are discombobulated about, I hope this put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine. But a broken spirit dries the bones.”

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

And yes, if you I think you are discombobulated, just like a short dog in tall grass. Just pick your Bible up and read some inspiring stories. Then get down on your knees and have a little talk with Jesus and He will make it right….

He will turn your discombobulating into joy, peace and hope…

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy… Psalm 30:11

What Are You Drinking?

Todays devotion comes from (John 4:13-15) “Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again. But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give them will never thirst, but the water that I shall give them will become in them a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

When you’re thirsty, nothing tastes so good as a huge drink of cool water! Of course, that water can only satisfy you for a while. Then you need another drink.

People today try to change their water to make it taste better. They buy packets of assorted flavors to make their water taste better. They buy bottles of favored water. They also have all kinds of water with vitamins, and water to give you energy, and they try to make it look good, taste good, and smell good. It may change the taste, look, and smell, but it is still water.

Satan does the same thing in our lives if we let him. He tries to make sin look good. He tries to tell us it is okay to sin. He tries to make it smell good, taste good, and look good. But people sin is sin, and there is nothing that can make sin change from sin. There is no favor (excuse) that you can use for sinning.

But God’s Word tells says, ” that Jesus can give you a drink of water that would last forever!”

He is not talking about water that comes out of the faucet. Jesus is talking about a special kind of water that we can’t see, the water of everlasting life. The life of living water Jesus gives constantly satisfies our needs and desires. It quenches your soul, that you never thrust again.

You can have the “living water” today by believing that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world.

One day the Lord Jesus met a woman at a well who needed this living water and He gave it to her. He told her, “you can drink of the living water and never thirst again.”

Let’s expand a little more about this special meeting. The woman at the well had a destiny. Jesus wanted to reach her no matter what He had to go through to get to her

After preaching in Judea, Jesus decided to return to Galilee, but Jesus needed to go through Samaria. This was the shortest route from Judea to Galilee. However, in Jesus’ day, the Jews, who hated the Samaritans, normally chose a different route to avoid Samaria. But, Jesus needed to go through Samaria to reach a certain woman.

When Jesus reached Samaria, He sat by a well to rest while the disciples went into the city. When a Samaritan woman came for water, He asked for a drink. Surprised, the woman could not understand how He, being a Jew, would ask her for a drink.

The woman was shocked that a Jewish man would ask her for a drink. Local custom prohibited public conversation between men and women who were strangers and especially Jews and Samaritans.

She didn’t know that this Man was different from all others. He was Jesus, the perfect Son of God, and He loved the Samaritans! As God the Son, He loves everyone, no matter what race or color.

The Bible says, “God is Love”
He loves you and me, too. He made you and He loves you much more than you can ever imagine! He created the entire world, the mountains, the oceans the trees, and flowers, everything! He is not only great, but He is holy and pure.

Little did this woman know that God cared about her. She had no idea that the One asking her for a drink was Jesus, God the Son. Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world.

The woman misunderstood when Jesus assured her that if she knew who He was she would ask for living water. The woman understood “living water” as that which was at the deepest part of the well. But Jesus spoke about the water of everlasting life which only He could give. Whoever drinks of this water, all who believe the gospel, will be satisfied forever.

Jesus challenged the woman to consider her own sinful condition by instructing her to bring her husband. Before the woman could believe in Jesus as the One who could give her “living water” (everlasting life) she had to recognize that she was a sinner. The Bible says, “everyone is born into this world a sinner.”

Romans 5:12
12 Therefore, just as through one-man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—

We are not right with God on the inside and that is why we have a “spiritual thirst.” We cannot change ourselves. Because you and I are sinners, we want our own way rather than God’s way. Can you think of sometimes when we know what is right, but choose not to do it? You and I have sinned, and the Bible says the “wages of sin is death” (to be separated from God)

Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. You must be willing to admit you’re a sinner and that you need the Lord Jesus to give you “living water” Jesus was trying to help the Samaritan woman see that she was a sinner.

John 4:25 25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”

But we see that she tried to change the subject on Jesus. Do we do that sometimes in our life to keep from doing His will?

The woman tried to change the subject by saying, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.” “Our Fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jesus say that in Jerusalem in the place where one ought to worship.”

When the woman told Jesus, the coming Messiah would explain these things, He said, “I am He.” The woman was face to face with the Savior of the world, the Messiah. The Messiah or Christ means “Promise One” from God. Jesus was the One that people had expected since the Old Testament times. The woman knew about that promise; and now He was here, talking with her!

Jesus was the perfect Son of God who would die for the sins of the entire world. He was nailed to the cross by those who hated Him. He gave His blood as an offering for sin, your sin and mine. He didn’t deserve to die because He had never sinned, but He willingly took the punishment you an did deserved. He was buried, but He didn’t stay dead! He rose from the grave, proving that His sin offering was accepted by our holy God for the sins of the entire world. Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. And the Samaritan woman was face to face with Him!

Immediately the woman believed that Jesus was truly the Messiah, and she excitedly ran to the city to tell other about Him.

We need to get excited and run and tell the world of our Messiah. Let’s take a lesson from the Samaritan woman and go tell of the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Forming Habits

WOW! It takes only 30 days to form a habit or break a habit.

Now do not get me wrong or get mad at what I am going to say, but if having to make it a habit to do it helps you to start reading your Bible and Praying everyday, DO IT!

(Psalm 119:11) “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

“For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:12-13)

When you decide to study the Bible, you will soon fined out that the habit has become a intimate daily relationship with God. 

I can think of things that I find would be harder.  Exercise, which I am trying to do. Not having a Krispy Cream Donut every so often. And as for my daughters not buying shoes. But I am sure for all of us, we could add a lot more.

But just think of the reward of spending time in the word. You are relaxing, because you are not thinking and worrying.  God is talking to you.  God is talking to you. You’ve strengthening your faith. You are filling your spirit with the word, the word that defeats satan and his demons. And again, I am sure you yourself can think of a billion wonderful things that are taken place as you are reading the Word of God. 

So,  what is stopping you? Get busy right now, and start the habit that will bless you and you will surely be a lot more happier in your life.

I love a statement  John Wesley said, “In all cases, the church is to be judged by the Scriptures not the Scriptures by the church.”  The Bible is still the supreme authority for the Christians in all matters. It is not what we think Jesus would do or how we feel He would interpret the Scriptures, but “Thus says the Lord.”

And this is just one of the reasons we need to spend time daily in God’s Word.

So Many Worldly Things

I love History, I read at less one history book a month, along with my Biblical Studies and readings. American History is a very important part of our religious heritage.

I was reading the biography of Black Hawk. Black Hawk, a leader of the Sauk and Fox nations, decided to fight for the land that belonged to his people.
Black Hawk was born near the Rock River in Illinois. Black Hawk began fighting for his people soon after the Sauk were tricked into signing an unfair in 1804. Five Sauk leaders were tricked by William Henry Harrison. He gave them whiskey. While the Sauk were drunk, they signed a treaty that gave all of their land east of the Mississippi River to the United States.
Black Hawk was furious when he learned about the treaty. Black Hawk decided to fight the United States.

During the War of 1812, he fought with Tecumseh on the side of the British.
Black Hawk and his sons led a group of Sauk and Fox against the United States Army. The war became known as the Black Hawk war. Black Hawk and is men fought bravely, but the American Army had more soldiers and better weapons. The war ended in August 1932 when Black Hawk and his sons were captured. They were taken to Washington D.C. as prisoners.

After the war Black Hawk returned to his people and settled with them in Iowa. He remained there until he died in 1938. Although Black Hawk failed to keep his land, he is now admired for his brave fight to protect the rights of his people.

(Ephesians 6:10 – 12) says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against power’s, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

I know you are thinking where are you going with this?

Well, when I read this story the first thing that came into my mind was, “IF” the Sauk had not given in to drinking and became so intoxicated that they signed their land away, they still may have owned their land.

The devil will show us so many worldly things that look good that we become intoxicated with them. Then the devil will slowly reel us in to deeper sin and soon death.

Just as the Sauk were reeled in my whiskey, the devil will try to tell us that following him will bring us a better way of life. He will try to entice us to live for him.

The truth is, we have a real enemy who wants to destroy us. We have a real fight on our hands in the struggle to hold onto our purpose.

As citizens of the kingdom of God, we have become a threat. The enemy has been engaged, and the fight is on. We need to have an attitude of watchful readiness.

We must put on the whole armor of God, so that we may withstand all the wicked ways of the devil and his demons.

We must put on the helmet called salvation. The strongest battles are fought on the battleground of our minds. Now the blood of Jesus continually cleanses our mind from thoughts of insecurity, discouragement, fear and doubt.

And we are protected by righteousness and truth, because Jesus is our righteousness and He is the truth. We cannot trust in our own good works.

The enemy will defeat us if we try to stand on our own righteousness. Our only true freedom comes by hearing and abiding in the truth. That means I am who God says, I am. In Him I live and move and have my own being!

Also in one hand we need to hold a sword. In the other hand a shield. We must yield daily to the Holy Spirit who activated the word of God through our faith. Faith is the substance of our hope. When we wield the sword, we do it in faith in God’s promise to be faithful to His word. Faith is being persuaded that God is able! God’s word will defeat any enemy.

The battle we face daily is not with people or situations. There is an enemy who uses people and circumstances to try to steal our lives and our happiness. We are already defeated if we try to win this war in our strength with carnal weapons. We must take up- the weapons of the Spirit and learn how stand. We must stand our ground and courageously resist the temptation to surrender.

We are destined for warfare and dressed for battle. Watching in prayer, let us persevere like good soldiers to the victorious end!

Yes, Black Hawk did come back and fight, but because his enemy was stronger he was defeated and had to settle for less.

As soldiers of God, when we fight, we will win. We do not have to settle for less. Our Father owns all the cattle on a thousand hills, and He has enable us with the spiritual Armors, and our enemy is defeated.

Don’t Get Constipated

I made a statement to a friend that sometimes we get full of IT! That we sometimes need to take a good dose of laxative. In other words a dose of laxative from the word of God.

When we become so set in our own selves that we do not consider that God is in control, our insides become hard as cement. Our hearts become cold to other people’s feelings and needs.

But, when we take a good dose of God’s Word it will begin to stir our insides around and everything will soon work out. Then we are cleaned out and feel a lot better about our circumstances.

Psalm 51:10-13 says, “Create in me a clean heart O God. And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.”

This scripture says a lot. Sometimes when we get so bedded down with life, we need a good working out from the our Father God.

Now you know what I mean. When we get well, I just going to say it, constipated we feel miserable. We take some medication and we get worked out and we feel better.

There are times in our life, we think that we are in control. We can handle everything ourselves. We do not need God to help us solve our problems and troubles.

How many times have you prayed for God to take care of a circumstances, then the minute you say Amen to your prayer, you know, the prayer you ask God to handle.

You then get up off your knees and try to tell God how it needs to be handled.

You start worrying about it. You have picked the situation back up into your hands and taken it back from God’s hands.

When we do this, we soon become unhappy. We become stressed. We become constipated. That is when we need to get in the word and down on our knees and take a good dose of God’s laxative. Then when He works it out, we will feel a lot better. Not so bloated and making ourselves and everyone around us miserable.

Today, take the time to pray and read the word and see all the (smelly mess) God will bring out of you as you empty yourself in Him. He can take it and nothing we do smells to strong for him.
