Father God Promises To Protect If We Will Listen To Him.

Today a friend from church posted one verse of Exodus 23 on her FB page and it caught my spirit.

I think what really caught my eye was the part of the Bible verse that said, “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.” Exodus 23:20

I went back in my old sermons Library file that I preached through the years and did some research.

I got my Matthew Henry Commentary down, and four different study Bibles. The verse really sent a strong message to the Israelites and it sends the same message to the world today.

Exodus 23: 20 -33
“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces. Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span. “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run. I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way. But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land. “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”

Let’s look at what some of commentary’s have to say about who this Angel might have been.

Some say this angel was human angel or messenger, and the likely person is Joshua who led God’s people into the Promised Land. Augustine saw that Joshua is another name for Jesus. So when it says in Exodus 23:21, “My Name is in him,” it is prophetic of Jesus who leads us into the inheritance of the heavenly Promised Land.

Another said this angel was, well, an angel, a supernatural being. The psalmist said, “He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” Psalm 91:11. Hebrews 1:14, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Those are wonderful promises for us.

There’s also a third possibility. This angel is so closely associated with Father God that we get the feeling he may be more than an angel. God’s Name, which refers to the revelation and attributes of God, is in this angel.

Many Christians have thought the angel is the pre-incarnate Son, the second person of the Trinity.

We may asked then who do you think this angel is?

All I can say is from my studies whoever this Angel really was he points us to Christ.

If we look at the following verses, it shows in what ways is the Angel in Exodus 23:21-22 is like Jesus?

Matthew 28:20, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 14:2, My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

Hebrews 1:3, The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Luke 9:35, A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

Colossians 1:14, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of

If I were making a lesson plan up like I did when I taught school, I would asked the students what lessons can we learn from this passage?

The Answer would be plain and simple, “The battle is the LORD’s”

Exodus 23:22 says, “If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and I will oppose those who oppose you.”

Obedience brings victory. We are in a spiritual battle. It’s not a flesh and blood battle; it’s a spiritual battle, “against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm” Ephesians 6:12, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

We have two powerful weapons for this warfare, the Word of God and Prayer.

There are many times when we feel the pressure of this spiritual battle, and sometimes we get disheartened.

We would love to see more happening. But less can be more.

It was true for Jesus. He ministered to multitudes; he healed them; cast out demons; all exciting instant stuff. But it wasn’t the multitudes who turned the world upside down. It was the twelve disciples. It was the twelve men Jesus spent his time with day in and day out, in the nitty-gritty hard work of Christian discipleship. And progress was slow; it was little by little; two steps forward and two steps backwards; then maybe one step forward. It was painfully slow progress; but it was a long term strategy, and he knew it would reap a harvest.

I personally know at times we get disheartened by slow spiritual progress?

How do these verses encourage you to keep going?

One important thing I can say is there’s no room for compromise!

Exodus 23:32-33, Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”

There are many ways we can compromise in our personal lives. But there’s no room for compromise with sin.

What is the statement we have heard many times written by
R. Zaccharias -.
“Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.”

We can compromise in our witness, and lose everything are we can live in Obedience which will brings victory.

Are Your Prayers Effective?

When we abide in Christ, our prayers are effective, we glorify our Father God in our fruit bearing we demonstrate our discipleship, and our joy become full through experiencing Christ’s own joy with us.

Also, when we obey the Lord and align our will with His will we receive understanding of His Word, and many other areas of our lives.

I know, some of you are saying, “Oh, that name it and claim if stuff.” Well, in away yes. When you spend time with Father God daily, and read His Word, then your will, shall become His will for your life.

But notice, that little but big word, “if.”

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:7‬ ‭

In other words, plainly written, the more you know of your Father God, the more you will know of yourself. For we are made in His image and His ways.

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭

As you commit more to God and His Word, then you will soon find out that you are only asking Him in prayer what you know that He has promised you that He would do for you, by and from your obedience to Him.

Learn to do it God’s way.

Let’s look at Moses.

Moses was told the first time to strike the stone with the rod and water would flow. He did what was asked of him, and God gave them water.

The second time around, Moses did not listen too well. God told Moses to speak to the rock and water shall come out, but instead he decided to strike the stone twice with the rod to get water instead of following God’s direction.

Well, we know what happen then, the people disobedience caused them not to be able to enter the Promise Land.

You cannot always do something the same way all the time. Sometimes you must take a chance. Dare to try a new idea.

We must learn to listen to God and do what He requires for us to do. If Moses had just spoke to the rock as God said, everything would have been okay, but instead he wore himself out by hitting the rock twice and doing it his way. Speaking would have taken less time and energy than picking up the rod and hitting the rock. That took a little muscle on Moses own part. It would have been much easier if he had just obeyed God in the beginning. So, his disobedience lost him the goal, plans, and ministry God had for him to do in the Promise Land.

Now the question, are you ready to listen to God and enter the Promise Land, or do your own thing the hard way?

If you decide to do it your own way you may succeed just as Moses did after hitting the rock twice and doing it his own way, but he lost his Promised Vision, and he became tired and weary.

How about asking God what He wants for your life. I promise you that it will be better than any plans that you have come up with on your own.

Get in God’s Word, Pray, and study to show yourself a workman, then you can ask what you will, and it shall be.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭2:15

Do not let your own stubbornness keep you from receiving Father God’s blessing from Him.

Proverbs 29:1 He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.

Romans 2:5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

Psalm 81:11-12 “But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

John 5:30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

Father God wants the best for Hus children….

Being Job was a job!

Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Job 42 1:13 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,2 I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholding from thee.3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.7 And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and everyone an earring of gold.12 So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.17 So Job died, being old and full of days.

Trying to have the patience of Job is a job for sure. But, as they say, and you’ve heard a thousand times, “There is always a test before the testimony.”

In reading Job, I saw that God trusted Job enough to know that his servant would never fall away from Him.

We all have read, that Job was deeply approved and blessed by God. God’s assessment of Job is, “That there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and eschews evil” (Job 1:8).

From it, we can see that Job has borne a resounding testimony for God, and brought comfort to God’s heart.

When satan asked God to let him test the trueness of Job, God allowed him to test Job. But, God said you cannot take his life. But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face. The LORD said to Satan, Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life (Job 2:5-6).

As we all know the story, Job lost everything he had, all but a big mouth wife and three good for nothing friends.

And in the end if Job had not prayed for his friends, blessing his friends, God would have taken wrath against them. But Job still have compassion on them and pleaded to God for them.

God told Job’s friends, “8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.”

Job’s friends talk bad against Job and against God. But, Job was a Godly man and did not want harm to come to his friends.
Job said, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold,” JOB 23:10.

Job was saying, My faith will be tried.

How?

Will I obey under extreme circumstances?

Will I show love to my brethren even though they do not show love to me?

The Lord allows that trial to try our faith, so we have proof of the obedience of faith.

I will tell you now, sometimes my faith is not where is should be, but that does not stop me from seeking Father God, for I know He is the finisher of my faith.

Even when Job curse the day he was born, his so call friends still said, “just looked at the appearance of things, but they did not know how many sincere feelings that Job had toward Father God.

Job truly experienced Father God’s love for him during his trials. The reason why he said like this “Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived,” was that he neither wanted God to be pained by him nor did he want to see God worry about him. Job deeply felt that God is always right by his side and has been accompanying him from the very beginning to the end.

When he was harmed by Satan, Father God’s heart ached very much; when he was tortured and suffered pains, God’s heart was also pained.

As Job’s friends questioned why Father God did not heal Job, they did not realize that Father God knew the outcome of this test.

And Job’s friends like us asked Father God why are some healed and others are not?

We will never know that answer until we get to Heaven.

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭13:8, 10-13‬

We must keep our hearts and eyes on Father God. We must just must be faithful to what God has called us to do. And yes, I know God heals and will continue to do miracles in our lives.

God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for us. He died so we might live.

We like Job must be obedient.

I know know Father God is in control of our lives. That is why we have the book of Job, to show us that there are reasons for and purposes in these trials and sufferings that we do not see.

Job could not see what was going on behind the scenes, and neither can we. And yet God knows. He has a purpose, and it is a proper and right purpose that will end up manifesting more fully the love and compassion of His heart. The test of every trial is always to this end.

And God will never leave or forsake you. He would not have allowed this path you are walking if He did not know you were strong enough to handle it. In other words, He is kicking the old devil in the face and showing him that you are steadfast.

This should show you how important you are to Father God.

So, now I asked you this very important question?

Are you doing the job of Job?
It may be hard, but the pay and benefits in the end will be worth it all. Just stand still and know God is God.

And I will at another time list some Biblical reasons why at times some receive an earthly healing and some a heavenly healing. But, please know, I do not have all the answers and know one does. For now we see dimly, but one day we will see it clearly.

“Spiritual Blindness”

Spiritual Blindness, oh my gracious, these are Powerful Words.

But, as I look around I either see people walking around in a fog of spiritual blindness, are as they speak their words show just how spiritual blinded they have become in their lives.

As I pondered this question of spiritual blindness, it made me think, am I where I should be in my walk with God? Am I blind to the world around me and the service God has called me into?

I decided without hesitation that I do not know about you, but, I am on assignment for Father God and I am realizing I do not have time for junk are to play games. I do not beat around the bush. If someone needs Jesus, I will share the grace and mercy of His gift of Salvation with them.

I can share with them that they do not have to stay in a state of spiritual blindness.

I can share through my testimony what it is like to walk with dark shades over my eyes. Yes, if my own experience with my own spiritual blindness can help a soul not spend eternity in hell, so be it.

“Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.” Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.”

This is a story of blindness. A man had been born blind, forced to spend his entire life begging his livelihood. Then one day Jesus pick up some dirt, spit in it and put the dirt (clay)on his eyes, sent him to wash, and he saw!

I wonder why nobody at all, praised God?

Was it because they were too preoccupied with their own concerns to recognize Father God at work among them?

The disciples were wrapped up in a theological question: Why was this man born blind?

The Pharisees were worried by a legal question: What authority had Jesus to heal, especially on the Sabbath?

The man’s parents were anxious about a personal issue: How can we avoid being ostracized by the synagogue? Even the man himself was initially concerned only with what had happen to him.

This is a story of blindness, all right. Everybody in it is blind, to Jesus. Yet there He is, restoring sight!

I am blind sometimes too, so preoccupied with other issues that I fail to see the work of God around me.

One person in this story give me hope. The man who was once blind finally sees who Jesus really is an immediately he worships Him.

If I focus my own eyes on who Jesus is, will I be able to see what God is doing in the world and in my life, and praise Him for it.

Father God, as I turn my eyes to You, heal my blindness that I may praise You for all You good works. In Jesus Name I Pray Amen and Amen and so be it!!!!

Whose Knocking?

John 15:7 “If you abide in Me and My Word abides in you, you may asked what you will and it shall be.”

This week I told someone, hey, “when satan knocks at your door, ask Jesus to answer the door for you.”

But, if I put the quote the way I really would say it, well, “Be the type of lady or man, that when you arise in the morning, the devil says, OH CRAP! SHE’S UP! or HE’S UP!” (smile please)

I know you have hear part of this statement before: “If you do not embarrass sin, sin will embarrass you.

Sin will take you farther than you want to go.
Keep you there longer than you want, and cost you more than you will realize.

We as Christians should not ever be afraid of satan, but he should be afraid of us.

If we are reading God’s Word, Witnessing and Praying daily, satan does not have a leg to stand on in our lives.

Jesus defeated satan in the wilderness by saying, “satan it is written.”

“Then Jesus was led by the [Holy] Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After He had gone without food for forty days and forty nights, He became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But Jesus replied, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’ ” Then the devil took Him into the holy city [Jerusalem] and placed Him on the pinnacle (highest point) of the temple. And he said [mockingly] to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning You [to serve, care for, protect and watch over You]’; and ‘They will lift you up on their hands, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ” Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall not test the Lord your God.’ ” Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory [splendor, magnificence, and excellence] of them; and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ ” Then the devil left Him; and angels came and ministered to Him [bringing Him food and serving Him].”

We should also be able to say, “satan it is written,” and quote the Word of God over anything that satan tries to throw at us.

We give satan to much credit. We give him to much rope in our lives and he hangs on.

It is time we cut that rope using Father God’s Word. His Holy Scriptures.

It is time to remember that any and everything that has a name has to bow down in the Name and by the Name of Jesus.

It is time for a change. It is time for satan to fear us waking up each morning, because he knows we are going to read God’s Word, Pray and Witness for Christ, which he does not want us to do.

It is time to scare the tarnation out of satan so much that he says, “OH Crap, they’re up!

Hey folks it’s time to get real. It is time to stand on our own two feet, and let satan and the world know we are children of God. The world is sick and tired of Holy then Thou Christians, who are acting like the world. Let the world know we are just sinners saved by the mercy and grace of God.

Remember don’t be so religious acting that you scare people away for God.

God Forgive Me For Being Disappointed In You!

There are times in our lives that are easy to trust Father God when life is going good. We are singing, giving our testimony and just rolling along.

But, what happens when Father God allows our faith to be squeeze a little, like a lemon?

What happens when we find ourselves in situations that we cannot understand?

Let’s look at Matthew 11:2-3
John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?”

So, I asked you, was John telling Jesus, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, “I am disappointed in you? Are you who you say you are? If so, why am I in jail, fixing to die?”

Yes, we have all been disappointed with God, when we cannot understand why situations in our life are turned up side down.

We start reminding Father God how we have stood and not lost faith. We start telling him of all the good things we have done. We start trying to explain life to the one who gave us life.

I am positive John the Baptist was where we are and even have been.

John was the forerunner of Jesus. John even Baptized Jesus. He had obeyed the call of Father God in his life. He preached and shouted from the mountain tops that Jesus was coming to be Israel’s Messiah. He confronted the religious leader’s and challenged sinful hearts, and called Israel to repentance, all to prepare the way for Jesus. He expected his faithfulness to his Father God to be recognized. John gave his all.

But as we read John was now in jail. It was not good. John knew that he would even be beheaded

John was disappointed in Jesus saying, “ do you realize what is happening to me?”

But, Jesus handled John’s disappointment and doubt.

Jesus did not send a message back to John saying, why are you not believing? Why are you fussing? Why are you doubting?

Jesus instead lifted John up in his body, spirit and soul, and said, “John, Father God knows you and values you.”

See, Jesus understood where and what John was going through. And he also understood that Father God’s timing was way different than John’s.

There are times we want things to happen our way just like John did in his life.

But, Jesus redirected John’s faith by encouraging him to take his eyes off circumstances and put them back where they belonged.

Jesus said, in John 11:4-6 “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen—that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. And tell him, ‘God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.’”

Jesus is insuring John to keep his eyes on the evidence that Father God’s is in control and being glorified.

Jesus was telling John to stand firm in the hope of Father God’s continuing work through the Messiah that John, himself announced to the world was coming and did come, just as he had spoken. And to never doubt his Father God would continue to be faithful to the end.

Yes, just as John we’ve all questioned Father God in our disappointments.

And yes, we have all been angry with Father God and shouted it to the Heavens when we felt Father God let us down.

You even might be there today in your situation.

Let me tell you now that is okay.

Father God is big enough to handle your situation just like he did Johns.

If you come now in repentance with all your heart and soul, Father God won’t let you down.

Instead he will lift you up. Open your heart to him now.

He’ll show you how valuable you are to him.

See, even when we feel disappointed with Father God, he knew before time we may make wrong decisions.

God already knew that we would fall short of His glory. He already knew that we needed a Savior and that is why He sent Jesus. Jesus was sent to settle our account (justification), paying the price for our sin and opening the way for a relationship with God. He saved us at our darkest hour (Romans 5:8) and knew that we wouldn’t be able to earn salvation nor maintain it with working hard (Ephesians 2:8-9).
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ~Romans 3:23
But, see Father God’s Grace is Sufficient.

Saved by grace is the reason we have new life in Christ. God knew that we would need grace for salvation. Jesus says “His grace is enough.”

“We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”

Only the Sovereign Father God knows his plans for you. And there are some things that will only make sense on the other side of eternity. That’s why the greatest gift we can give back to God is our trust, especially in the face of life’s goods, bad and ugly.

And please remember that Father Gods will never disappoint you if you and given him your heart, mind, body, soul and spirit.

And, you cannot disappoint God.

Because you must remember that only Satan try’s to use the tactics of disappointments against you. Satan wants us to think we have disappointed Father God.

But, that is a lie straight from the pits of hell, we must not believe, because it can make us move away from Father God. And then Satan has won the battle.

Jeremiah 28:11, , “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

The early verses of John 15 also remind Christians that God’s plan does not end with death and that He continues to watch over His people even after they die.

So, tonight, give all your failures and disappointments to Father God. He is waiting for you to return home.

Pride for Lunch

Luke 8:41-42 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was an official of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and began to entreat Him to come to his house; 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. (NAS)

Let’s try to put ourselves in Jairus’ place for just a minute here. His young daughter is gravely ill, near death. Jairus is well-known in the community as a teacher, counselor and man of faith. The itinerant Rabbi was strictly to be avoided, off limits according to the leadership in Jerusalem. To meet him or have anything to do with him was to be required to explain yourself, in the very least. It could easily mean to be excommunicated. They were dead serious about it.

But there were also stories, supposedly true ones from good sources, that this Jesus had the power to heal. There were other very interesting tales surrounding this man. Some of which were just too wild to be true. If it were not for the fact that this edict had come down from the top, Jairus might have liked to have at least met this Rabbi and talked with him.

But now he, who was the pillar of strength to the community, was in need of strength beyond his reach. His only daughter was dying and all the prayers he could muster were not changing a thing. All the kind words, which were meant to comfort, only drove the point deeper into his heart. She was slipping away from him like sand through his fingers. God’s gift to his heart was being recalled.

Luke 8:42-44 But as He went, the multitudes were pressing against Him. 43 And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind Him, and touched the fringe of His cloak; and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. (NAS)

He had to choose. A moment of destiny for himself, his family and his daughter. If this man could heal his daughter and he did not try, he would never be able to forgive himself. The leadership would understand, maybe. And if they did not and he was thrown out, he would still have his beloved child. With that he swallowed his pride and decided. He closed the books on his desk, got up and fairly ran out the door.

The people who had decided to come and see this Jesus were stunned to see one of the leaders in the synagogue there too. They had heard of the letter from the temple leaders, too. Some knew of his situation at home. As Jesus entered the town the large crowd parted slightly and Jairus and Jesus were face-to-face. Jairus in his fine robes and Jesus in his garments covered with dust from the journey. Everything he had thought to say at their meeting fled Jairus’ mind. He managed a brief hello and half choked out the words he dreaded. “My daughter is dying. Please come to my home and touch her.”

He controlled the plea in his voice as much as possible. But it was there. There was no pause in the Rabbi at all. His head tilted slightly to one side as he said, “Of course, please lead the way.” Hope flowed in, hope which had been dripping out like sand from an hourglass. He said he would come, and He didn’t say He couldn’t do it! Jairus struggled to lead the way through the crowd when suddenly he heard Jesus speak. “Who touched me?” A delay. Not now. We have to go. I’ll bring Him back. My daughter, my child is so sick. Please! He knew the woman he spoke with as well. Her situation was well-known. An unstoppable bleeding that had lately begun to take its toll on her. The doctors said that she also was dying.

He wanted to barge in and break it up, but the compassion that this Jesus had shown him, he now also showed this poor woman. No condemnation at all, and there had been fear in her voice and her eyes when she had admitted her actions. The same fear that gripped Jairus’ heart as he met the Rabbi. The very same.

The delay was only minutes. Jairus was stunned at the man’s power to heal and by the gentle power in Jesus’ words and his gaze. The miracle he had just witnessed was almost lost on him in his own need. Then he saw two men coming from his home. He could tell by the look in their eyes, they had horrible news that they would have given anything not to have to deliver. As they met, Jairus steeled himself for the news but it crushed him all the same. His only daughter was dead, beyond help now. The sliver of hope that had swelled inside him was in ashes.

Jesus reached up and put his hand on his shoulder. Jairus looked up expecting pity and saw power and love. “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”

Luke 8:52-53 Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, “Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.” 53 And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. (NAS)

The hired mourners all wore sad faces and tears flowed liberally. Their mock tears ate at Jairus’. Their presence had been arranged. Yet they knew no pain in his daughter’s death. When Jesus instructed them to stop crying they did. When Jesus told them the little girl was only sleeping they mocked Him. They railed on Him and jeered Him. They knew dead, they had seen dead and she was. How unfair of you to raise this man’s hope. How dare you insult us like that? With a single word of command He sent the mourners packing. The authority in that voice made Jairus’ hair on the back of his neck stand to attention. Silence again reigned where there had been wailing before.

Luke 8:54-56 He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Child, arise!” 55 And her spirit returned, and she rose immediately; and He gave orders for something to be given her to eat. 56 And her parents were amazed; but He instructed them to tell no one what had happened. (NAS)

Jesus took a few of his friends and Jairus into the house. Jairus’ wife looked up from beside the still form on her child to her husband. The pain in her eyes was staggering. When she saw Jairus, she did not see the broken father she expected to see. And she saw his companions and was very confused. “Dear, this is Rabbi Jesus who we have all heard so much about. He has agreed to come and heal our daughter.”

She stood up slowly, half in shock at the words. Could it be? She walked toward her husband as Jesus walked toward the mat that held the young girl. Jesus touched her arm as they passed and looked at her with promise and hope in His eyes. She continued over to her husband. Her mouth opened to speak but words would not come. She quietly turned and looked as Jesus knelt beside her child.

Jesus picked up her cool hands and held them for just a second. The term He used was a term of endearment. Jairus would be later struck by the irony that though they had never met, Jesus showed a genuine caring for this little girl. “Princess, time to get up.” There was no lightning or event of any kind. There was a brief pause. Was that a breath she took? Fighting with his unbelief Jairus stared as his daughter’s eyelids fluttered and opened. She sat up, and then stood. Jesus smiled widely at her and gestured her to her parents.

Her mother met her halfway across the floor with a hug. Immediately she checked her daughter’s forehead and cheeks. The burning heat that had radiated was no longer there. It was as if she had never been ill. Before Jairus could gain his wits Jesus asked that they see to it that their daughter had something to eat. It was as if He had somehow known she hadn’t eaten for several days.

Jairus walked over to Jesus and grabbed both arms and embraced them in joy. He hugged Jesus and kissed His cheeks and thanked him from a grateful heart. “Can I do anything for you? I could arrange for you to speak that the synagogue on the Sabbath if you would like? I could arrange for you to meet the leaders of the city? Anything, name it, please.

” The compassionate smile turned to Jairus and said, “Let’s keep this between ourselves, and you are very welcome.”

It was a knowing smile too. Jesus would do nothing to further endanger Jairus’ livelihood or reputation with his leadership. He had gone way out on a limb, stretching his faith for his family. Jesus would honor that. He quickly said His goodbyes and left as the girl snacked on bread and honey with something to drink. He waved from the doorway with his companions. He was gone, leaving the family in wonder.

“How do you keep this a secret?”, Jairus wondered. A miracle happens before your eyes, restores something this precious to you and then you tell no one? It would not be a surprise to me if the family had thrown a block party in celebration.

Jairus swallowed his professional and personal pride to meet Jesus. When he did so, Jesus was able to restore His only daughter to him and her family.

How many times do we prevent Jesus from helping us by not swallowing our pride and going to Him?

Sometimes it takes getting down to were there is nothing else left to hold on to before we do.

There are times when we look back and say, “if only I had. We waited too long.” Jairus abandoned himself to Jesus, as did the woman with the bleeding. Both knew desperation, and both knew redemption from there hopeless plights. They had both reached beyond what they knew to be possible, literally throwing themselves into the dark and trusting Jesus to catch them.

What does it take to get you to that point?

A New Thing

“1. After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. …

2. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Isaiah 43: 19
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now
it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

WOW! A New Thing! Such a work as was never yet done in the world.

I cannot believe that it is already October 25, 2021. Where has this year gone?

We cannot reclaim it or undo it. We cannot rest on the great distance it has brought us.

If tomorrow dawns, it will be another day, a new opportunity, and the time to show our faith in Jesus as Lord.

Let’s begin our journey forward Into the last quarter of 2021, knowing that God already inhabits the future and promises to provide us refreshment on our journey there.

God is ready to send His disciples out. He had bought up a generation of workers that are ready to bring in the Harvest.

Are you ready?

I know, Elder Joe and I are willing to step into the last quarter of 2021 by sharing God grace and mercy to a lost and dying world.

And 2022 is already booking up on my calendar. I have Revivals, one in New York, Women’s Conference, a Wedding, and three – 4 weeks Bible Studies on the Book of Revelations.

Plus my weekly counseling sections that I am blessed to do by Father God to teach the world.

This also includes starting a new ministry group for the church we attend and support with all our heart.

And also I have a couple Pastors that I fill in for when they need me. So, I guess Father God is not furnished with the old lady yet?

The most wonderful and amazing event is God is doing a new thing and He is telling us that it is also a new beginning.

It is a time of holiness and purity. A time for us as the body of Christ to clean out the cabinets. Get rid of the old stuff that is holding us back from doing God’s work.

It is to see Father God afresh.
See Father God in His all His glory, and to Worship Him with all of our heart.
It is time to step out and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Remember when God leads you
into a New Thing, He goes before you and with you and will watch over you and the work, and nothing can come against you or the work you are doing.

Father God is watching over His people and His Word. And the workers He has called will be blessed, and His Word will be fulfill.

Today, right this moment, forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. For God is saying to us, “I am doing a new thing! And there is nothing that can reverse it. You are my servant whom I have chosen, and you shall flow with a freshness of My Spirit, and you will go out into places that people have dried up and places that are dead and I will overflow my Spirit from out of you into the barren places and bring life, and bring fruit and produce a harvest, and, for the honor and glory of the Father God, declares the Lord of Host.”

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:2, 3

Father God Is Worthy To Be Praised

“Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.””

We all know the worship we do here on earth is not even a 10th of the worship that is in Heaven now, and when Jesus returns for His bride I can only imagine the Worship and Praise that will take place before the Throne of Father God. Because our Praise will ring through the Heavens giving Worship that is due to the Lamb of God.

We will bow down before Father God in worship, humbling ourselves. Falling prostrate before a deity is worship, humbling oneself before One who is greater.

“The four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” (Revelation 5:8)

I want you to think of it this way.

The 24 elders hold in their hands 24 golden bowls filled with the prayers of God’s people, symbolized as incense rising in a sweet smell before the throne as it is burned.

You and I may not be there now in this heavenly enthronement ceremony, but our prayers are, valued with golden bowls that bear our petitions before the Father God. Our prayers are not forgotten, but heard in the very presence of the Almighty our Father God on high!

As God’s people we are referred to as “saints.” The Greek adjective hagios bears the root meaning “pertaining to being dedicated or consecrated to the service of God, dedicated to God, holy, sacred, that is, reserved for God and God’s service.” Referring to people, it means, “the holy ones, believers, loyal followers, saints,” speaking of Christians as consecrated to God.

We are not called saints because we are perfect, but because we have been made holy by Christ, sanctified, set apart for God’s own service and use. You and I are these holy ones, dedicated to God himself.

Just look and read verse 9 again: “And they sang a new song:
‘You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain
and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.'” (Revelation 5:9-10)

The song explains the Lamb’s worthiness. The Lamb is able to execute God’s plan for the Last Days because he was slain and with the blood produced by his own sacrificial death, he “purchased by His blood the everlasting gift of salvation for all for His Father God.

With regards to persons it means “to secure the rights to someone by paying a price, buy, acquire as property.”

We are the children of Father God. He loves us. He cherishes our prayers. He knows our needs.

If you have not studied Revelations, please do not let all the symbolism that is used keep you from seeing the on spot small secrets of the words of grace, mercy, and love.

They are in every verse and line.

Just read the verses of Father God’s promises to us. Even the little things that explain Father God like this scripture says: The 24 elders hold in their hands 24 golden bowls filled with the prayers of God’s people, symbolized as incense rising in a sweet smell before the throne as it is burned.

Father God makes sure our prayers are held and heard before all of Heaven. And our prayers are sweet smelling love in Heaven.

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30 (ESV)

Do you ever get that sinking feeling of not quite measuring up at the mention of the Proverbs 31 woman?

Me too.

I remember when I first read this chapter many years ago as a young wife and mom. I thought the Proverbs 31 woman was overwhelmingly perfect.

And as I’ve walked through a season of extreme hardship in my marriage over the last few years, I’ve found myself not just intimidated by Proverbs 31 but defeated by this wife whose marriage seems full of praises. Even good marriages don’t always have such shiny realities.

That’s why my heart feels especially tender toward those who would rather skip over Proverbs chapter 31. I know what it’s like to have these words sit heavy on your heart with a resounding declaration of “not enough.”

But what if I told you that the heart behind Proverbs 31:10-31 is one of celebration, not condemnation?

The first thing I want us to take note of is that this isn’t just a chapter about a wife of noble character, despite how your Bible titles verses 10-31. It’s a chapter about a woman of valor. A courageous woman. A woman of strength and dignity.

In Jewish culture, these verses are read out loud on the Sabbath as a celebration over the women. This is in no way condemning what they aren’t but celebrating how they are, in their own unique expressions, living out the virtues detailed in this chapter. These aren’t words meant to tell a woman she is supposed to be more. They are a celebration of who she is.

Isn’t that the way it should be?

Courageous women celebrating each other … and those they love celebrating them? All under the banner of honoring God, serving out of love, and smiling at the future. Yes, this is why I love Proverbs 31 and rejoice that our ministry is named after such uplifting Scriptures.

I also love how Proverbs 31:30 reminds us of what’s truly worth celebrating: “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

Notice it’s not a woman with a spotless house who is to be praised. It’s not the mom with perfectly behaved children wearing matching, designer outfits. Honestly, it’s not even the woman who’s married and has children.

A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. This isn’t an “I’m afraid of God” kind of fear. This type of fear refers to having a heart completely in awe of God. It describes a woman who honors God by seeking Him in everything she does and trusting Him wholeheartedly with her life. She has a heart of reverence that overflows into a life of spiritual maturity and wisdom.

And let’s not forget to look at today’s verses within the context of why God gave us this book of the Bible. The very first chapter of Proverbs tells us it exists so we can gain wisdom, instruction, understanding, insight, knowledge, discretion and guidance (as seen in Proverbs 1:1-7). Proverbs 2:1-5 goes on to remind us that as we receive and apply God’s commands, we’ll be able to understand how to find the knowledge of the Lord.

Wisdom is both a gift from God and a process of learning. And Proverbs 2:10 tells us the benefit of this kind of wisdom: It will be pleasant to your soul as it enters your heart.

I know this is a passage of Scripture that can easily trip us up. But what if we take God at His Word and choose to believe these words hold good and pleasant things for us? What if we challenge ourselves to look at Proverbs 31 closely — to see which part of it is a gift to us and which verses we need to learn from? What if we speak these words over ourselves and the other women in our lives as a form of celebration instead of condemnation?

God tucked these words into His Word for all eternity, sweet friends. And that tells me they are needed and meant for our good. Let’s ask Him to help us learn from them today.

Father God, thank You for this beautiful picture You painted in the pages of Scripture. Help me receive these words from You as a gift. Help me hear them spoken over my own life with Your voice of love. And show me how to live them out, according to the unique way You purposefully designed me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
