Be Kind and Compassionate…

Have you ever been so surprisingly hurt by someone, that you had thoughts of getting even. This is not the way God would have it done.

(Romans 12: 17-18) “Do not repay anyone evil for evil,” “Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

I have found out by personal experience that you can be hurt badly by someone out of the blue. They will just go off on you for no reason at all. And the sad thing is people who call themselves Christians are sometimes the first to judge their brother and sister in Christ. They will read or hear something and they quickly set their on judgmental opinion up without ever reaching out to find the truth out on what may have been said

or done to their fellow Christian. They just start gossiping without seeking the truth.

I have also found out that people who are like that, are people who are hurting inside. They have been hurt so bad, that they do not know how to love anyone,  just vent their hurt by hurting others.

It is sad when this happens. All we can do is pray for the person, that God will heal their hurt and attitudes.

Let us discuss the reason for not getting even. First of all just knowing that the Lord forbids our taking revenge should be sufficient to keep us from doing it. We want to obey our Lord, whether or not we understand all the reasons for His commands. In this matter, however, the Lord wants us both to obey and to know why.

God doesn’t want us to do evil. The fact that someone else does evil tous doesn’t change that. He wants us to “do what is right,” even if others do what is wrong.

As God sees it, and as we need to see it, the problem when we ‘get even” is that we are doing exactly that. The other person has sunk to a low level, and we are getting down there with him. If our enemy were destitute, would we want to lose our assets too and get even? If he were sick, would we want to lose our health and get even? Of course not. Then if he has done evil, why should we lose our integrity by getting even?

God says in effect, “Don’t get even; come up higher.” He wants us to be better people.

When we respond to God’s command and forsake revenge, we save both ourselves and others a lot of grief.

As Scripture says, “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.” (Galatians 5:15)

Bounded By Strands

Once again I want to take a very familiar passage and try to gain new insight by applying the passage to our lives today. Isn’t it awesome that
the bible was written thousands of years ago, yet remains so relevant for us today! Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and
forever. Amen. 

Lets look at the story of the rich young ruler from the perspective of both Christ calling for acceptance of Him as our Savior and mostly Christ
calling us to full devotion to Him. Mark 10:17 17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,”
he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Notice the attitude of the rich young ruler. He ran to Jesus. The ruler did not with arrogance call Jesus to him. Then the man fell on his knees. This is a clear sign of reverence for Christ. The title “Good” refers to God, as only God is good.
Lastly the man who had all the wealth anyone could possibly want acknowledges that he is lacking the most important wealth. That wealth is
the security of eternal life in heaven. He was sincerely seeking Christ.

But, as you know, Christ demands full devotion. Tells the man to sell all and follow Him. Christ knew that the man’s wealth was interfering with
full devotion to Christ. Sadly the man chose his earthly wealth over eternal wealth. Mark 10:25 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. I want to take the liberty here of stretching the Greek translation of camel to the word cable. I do this only to illustrate a point and certainly not to re-write the Bible. ; )

Picture in your mind a cable or rope. Notice how the cable is strands of small cords tightly bound together. Each overlapping the other to form a
large cable. A single simple strand could pass through the eye of a needle if all the excess ones were removed. 

My question to you is this. What is binding you today? What is keeping you from becoming a more fully devoted follower of Christ? What excess cords do you need to remove? Is your life like a cable with strands of past sins? Past hurts? Past broken relationships? Past sorrows or regrets? How about present worldly desires? Are these strands binding you? Are they strangling you to the point of not being able to pass through the eye of the needle to full devotion to Christ? 

Join me today and start unraveling the bondage of the past as well as present worldly desires. Pull away each piece and lay them at the cross. Let God take it. What an wonderful thought, giving it all to God. Who can better handle it than Him?

Well, let’s get started. I myself, have been hurt, by people that I loved and cared for. I have now made it through, crossed over to be free, because I have choosen to forgive them. I hope that I can share with you, what you need to do, to make it through.

I know that in reading the devotion below you are saying, ” I know all of this” but, you still may feel that you cannot forgive someone.  If this is the circumstances, the first thing you need to do, is ask God to give you the will to forgive. He will do it. I do not have a problem with forgiving.  As a matter of fact I have forgiven  persons whom have hurt and told lies against me.  I have even tried to reconcile with them. Even to the point of calling and saying Merry Christmas, and or etc.
    

But, there is an old saying hurt me once shame on you, hurt me twice, shame on me. 
   

Reconciliation does not mean you have to keep going  back, again and again, or put yourself in a position to be hurt again, over and over. 
   

Let’s say, every time you went to the State Fair, you ate a lot of junk food, then got a ride that turned you upside down, and you became sick. Don’t you think that after a while  you would catch on. If I do this, I will face these circumstances.
   

To be reconcile, is just to say, listen, I know what has happen, and I forgive you. If I have done anything to you please forgive me.I wish you
the best, and now  I have done my part. I made the step of faith. Now it is in God’s hands. That  is all God expects you to do. When you have forgiven the person and tried to reconcile with them, it is then up to God. 
   

God knows that there are some people who refused to be reconciled with. But that is between them and God. You just do you part, because  I know that God also knows the circumstances, and does not want us to continue to be hurt. 
   

I know that not only myself, but you have gone through things that were just not right.  I know that also you may feel anger, and resentment,
but you have to let it go.
   

Do not get caught up and trapped in the past. Do not dwell on the things and disappointments of the past. 
   

I know that you are saying, “but I cannot forget, Pat, you just do not know how bad it hurt me.” 
       

Friend, our life does sometimes pass before us. We remember the good and the bad. Some times we even dwell on the bad things over and over again.
You have to stop that now. Every time satan tries to bring the past up, tell him to get lost. You need to focus on the good things of life that God has for you. If you have done wrong, ask God to forgive you. When you do Praise God, He does not remember the bad in your life anymore, so why should you. The devil can only tell you lies, so stop listening to him.  

One of the scriptures that God took me too, really helped me to understand, that I must forget the past, so I could reach forward to the goal God has planned for me.

Philippians 3:12-16
12. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
13. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 
14. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 
15. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 
16. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. 
   

I know that with the last few years of many surgeries, if I had not let go, I would not be here today. I could have let bitterness take control, but God and I had a long talk, and He told me,”Pat, for your spiritual and emotional health, you have to let it go. If you do not, you will not get well, and you will stay in bondage of unforgiveness and resentment. It will rule you and destroy you. You must not try to correct the situation. I will take care of it. You are my child, and I will make sure things are straighten out, and I will take care of those who have hurt you. You just forgive them,love them in Me, and bless them, and turn them over to me. See, Pat, I know who you
are, and the people who know you also, knows who you are, so do not worry about your reputation. It stands high in my book. And Pat, look at what happen to my Son, Jesus. He was lied on, accused wrongly,  and hurt, but He knew that He had to go through it, so you would not be in bondage to hurt and unforgiveness.”
   

WOW!, when God talks to you, you better listen. Thank God I did. 

Matthew 5:43-45    
43. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and
persecute you, 45. that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 18:21-22,21. Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin
against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 
22. Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.  I know what you are saying,”Pat do you know how many times the same
person has hurt me?” 
   

Yes, I been there, done that, and have a sweat shirt to show for it. It seems like it has been for me the same person over and over again. 
   

But that does not matter.  We still have to forgive them over and over again. Not for their good, but for our spiritual and emotional health.  We have to remember that they may be taking it out on us because they are in a bondage of hurt and disappointments.  That is the reason God says, “For them, and pray for them.”

Matthew 5:23 -24,
23. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 
24. leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

Matthew 6:14-1514 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will
also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

   

We all want to be in Heaven together, Praising God, giving Him all the glory and honor He deserves.

Do not let unforgiveness keep you from entering Heaven. It will not be worth it.  Let God control your circumstances. Let God make a difference in your life.

Forgive and let God take care of all the rest.

Let Faith Works Come Alive In You

(Haggai 2:23) says, “ In that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel, My servant the son of Shealtiel, says the Lord and will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, says the Lord of Hosts.”

Zerubbabel was precious to God. God gave the example of a signet ring, because a signet ring represented an article of special value to its owner.

Zerubbabel’s name remains recorded for all to see as a sign of the special place granted him by God, for he is listed in the genealogies of our Lord Jesus. Zerubbabel let the Holy Spirit bring Faith’s works alive in him. He sought God and trusted God to provide for all his needs. He made God a priority in his life.

We must as Zerubbabel trust God and not our own wants and wishes.

I asked you this, which I know you have heard before, “want to see God laugh, tell Him your agenda.” Our agenda is not always God agenda for our lives. And I will tell you now, I prefer God’s agenda over mine. With God’s showing me the way I will never fall flat on my face, but with me doing anything my way, I will definitely fall on my face right into the middle of a cow pasture, just where a cow has been walking around and probably taking care of some business. I have found out that when we are not following God’s direction for our lives we will be having to face then same old stuff and going through the same things, over and over again. I do not know about you, but I got tired of going through. I was ready to cross over Jordon River and stop daggling my feet in the water.

I learned how to let Faith Works come alive in my life. So today I am telling you that you need to have faith to know that God knows what He is doing. He never fails. We need to remember we are God’s children and precious to God. He cares for us and wants His best for us. Not our best, but His best. We need to let Faith Works come alive in us.

The challenge to faith is the same in every generation; seek first the things of God and trust Him to provide the daily necessities of life. The glorification of any work we pursue comes by the presence of God in it. God calls us to commit what we are, what we have and all that we do to Him. Make the work of God a priority, both with your time and with your money. Understand that it is the presence of Jesus that produces glory. Choose to believe and reckon as true that we turn from selfish ambition and personal agenda to focus on advancing God’s kingdom, He will bless us toward that end.

(St John 14:13-14) says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

What a wonderful promise Jesus gave to us. The purpose of the Christian’s power of attorney, it glorifies God to answer all prayers and save, heal, and bless all men spiritually and materially.  But He cannot do so unless they ask in faith, nothing wavering. Please read Hebrews 11:6, James 1:5-8

and Mark 11:22-24.

The “21” reasons for greater works are:

1.   Satan is cast out                     

(John 12:31)

2.   Satan’s defeat on the cross       

(Colossians 2:14-17) and (1 Peter 2:24)

3.   Completed redemption    

(John 19:30) and (1 Peter 1:10-12

4.   Spirit baptism which could not be given until Jesus was glorified. 

(John 7:37-39 and )(Acts 1: 4-8)

5.   Christ intercession for believers  (Romans 8:34) and (Hebrews 7:25)

6.   His restored glory                  

(John 17:5)

7.   High priesthood of Christ (Hebrews 4: 14-16)

8.   Headship of

(Ephesians 1:20-23)

9.   All authority given to Christ to give to believers

(Matthew 28:18-20) and (John 14: 12-15)

10. Completed victory over death, hell and the grave

(Hebrews 2:14-15) and (Revelations 1:18)

18. Time for each believer to receive all the gifts and fruit of the Spirit, which they could only receive in part in the Old Testament.

19.Time of no limitations in Christ, in the Spirit, and in the full benefits of the gospel promises.

(Matthew 17:20), (Mark 9:23), (John 15:7), (2 Corinthians 1:20) and (2 Peter 1: 1-12)

20. Time for the universality of the program of God in blessing all

nations. Believers would be carrying out the full program of the gospel in

world wide works of power even in a greater degree and kind than that of

Christ, depending upon the needs.

(Matthew 28:18-20), (Mark 16: 15- 20), (Luke 24:47-49), (Acts 1: 4-8) and (Genesis 12: 1-3)

21. Because I go to My Father and will not be here to continue My works or do greater ones, I will give My power to My disciples to carry on where I stopped. They will do the greater things that I would have done if I had continued.  I will give them authority and se to it that My work is carried on through them.

(John 14:12)

I hope that you take the time to look up each verse.  Do not just take my

word, but study God’s word.  Christ entrusted us enough to give us His

Power of Attorney.  Now what will you do with it?

Father God, Thank you for entrusting me to continue the great works that You began.  In Jesus Name I Pray. Amen and Amen
