The Adventures of Cali and Pastor Pat

Part 1 Today’s devotion maybe a little long, but I feel I cannot leave out ONE detail. This devotion will probably be a three part devotion over the next few days.

I want to share with you how I know that God is working through His people. Well, at least the ones whom are willing to be a vessel for Him, and the ones whom will go with the flow when PLANS HAVE CHANGED OR HAVE BEEN REARRANGED.

I promise you with my hand up in the air that this devotion is the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.

Now, on with the story. I just returned from a ministry trip/short vacation/supposedly deliver a dog to the airport.

Why not do all these things Mama, since you are going that way. LOL

I would be leaving North Carolina with Iris Lucas, who would be traveling with me, as I Ministered and Preached, and enjoying a short vacation. But now, I would soon learn that things have a way of changing at any moment. I would now be taking Iris to see her granddaughter, on the way to to deliver a dog, and to preach. You know, from North Carolina, via Florida, via Georgia, via Louisiana, back to Georgia to airport again, then home.

Well, first God has a since of humor for sure. My older daughter got my younger daughter a puppy. (I should have known that I would wind up in the middle of the whole ordeal.) As a matter of fact, since I have returned home, I have informed everyone involved, that if they are thinking of getting anyone a dog, and it will involve me, STOP and KICK themselves in the backside. LOL

Now, why she, my younger, could not have gotten a puppy in California, beats me. So, how do you get a dog from North Carolina to California? Ha, airplane! How does the dog get on the airplane? Ha! Mama since you are going that way, would you please drop Cali (the puppy) off in Atlanta at the airport? Oh, this puppy is not flying cargo, but on a special airline that flies animals only. You know, first class, private attendent, and you can see and check on your animal from your computer. Check link out below. Oh, by the way, they fly us coach when we go to visit them. Sometimes the planes I have ridden on, I think they must have gotten a good price from the local crop duster. LOL

Now, this is a special puppy. Even a couple in the Tractor Supply told Ann Hopewell and myself this puppy needed to go to Hollywood, in which I said, “give me until the 24th of February and she is out of here.” They laughed when I told them that her human mama lives in Los Angeles, and that Cali would be flying out then to Hollywood. Her mama only lives about 5 miles from Hollywood. The gentleman said, ” I would never in a million years have expected that answer.” Hey before this story is over, I would never in a million years have expected so many of the following events to take place.

This is when I decided, well, let me call Iris and see if she would like to leave a few days earlier, maybe February 21st, and I would take her to Florida to see her grandchildren. Then we would leave on February 23rd to go to Georgia and visit some friends, especially one whom had said, “Pat, if you could just come and lay hands on me and pray, I know God will heal me.” ( Friends, please pray for my friend, Frances, in Georgia. Oh, because of Cali, and now me, we may be on the road to discover what maybe causing Frances’ sickness.) Then we would leave their house in Georgia on the morning of the 24th, to drop Cali (puppy) in Atlanta to fly to California. Then, on to Louisiana, where I would Minister God’s Word.

Here is where God’s sense of humor comes into the picture. Even before we got to Florida, I received a call that tells me Cali’s flight has been cancelled. When I received the call, I looked at Iris and said, “God has a sense of humor.” Yes, that was the first words out of my mouth. Praise God, I was prayed up, or I may have not felt that way. Here I am, going to preach, and now I have a dog to take with me, so I can then return to Atlanta at a later date to put her back on a rescheduled flight.

So I called my sister, Ruby, and said, “Ruby , I can come your way now, but I will have a puppy with me, is that okay?” She agreed, no problem. So off we go to continue our trip. Pastor Pat, Iris, and now Cali. The Three Amigos.

Oh, before I stopped using Ms. Clairol, number no gray. LOL

By now, Cali has become very close to her human grandma, and I have become pretty fond of her. She has had the best Veterinary Care, medicines, shots, flea and tick treatment, and of course her Heart Guard. Before this story ends, you will see that Grandma Pat should have been treated also with Frontline for ticks and fleas. And, Praise God, I did have my Heart Guarded.

We arrived in Florida, where I dropped Iris off at her grandchildren, and Cali and I headed to a hotel.

So, now my trip involves me getting up early each morning for the next few days, so Cali and I can pray as we take our morning walk, and Cali taking care of a little extra business herself in the beautiful Florida weather. (Oh, except the day it rained). Then we would go back to our room, feed Cali her breakfast, study God’s Word, get dressed, and go to spend some time with Iris and her family. I left Cali in the hotel room, returning several times a day to let her out of her kennel to go potty. Well, sometimes I did not have to let her out. Yes, a 10 week old puppy, who weighed a total of 9 lbs at the time, suddenly became, I truly believe, Houdini. She would unzip her portable kennel. ( A big kennel for a 50lb dog, so she would have plenty of room.) I should have known, because this is the same puppy, that at 2 lbs, pushed her blanket and toy up to the corner of a 2 foot high 30 gallon container and would jump down to the floor. I have video to prove it.

There were times I was so glad I had just finished praying for the housekeeper, or the hotel clerk, or ministering to one of the guests, who would come up to me and ask me to pray for them, because someone had told them that there is a preacher that would be glad to pray for them. I think that few days in Gainesville, Florida, everyone decided I had the means to solve all their problems. I would tell them I cannot do anything, but I know a God who can. The housekeeper grabbed me one morning, and started dancing. She said, “you prayed for me, and God healed me. Praise God!”

Oh, why was I glad I had just prayed with someone? Because, when I walked into the room, Houdini had managed to unzip her kennel to look up a number in the phone book. I figured that either she could not find the number she was looking for, and she got disgusted, or pizza delivery boy would not deliver a pizza to her, so she took it out on the 6 inch thick telephone book and chewed it to pieces. Do you know how many pieces there are to pick up from a shredded 6 inch thick telephone book?

I DO!

Who Me? I did not do it.

I do not chew things. I plead not guilty.

Oh, she is also a very good advisor on what you need to wear for the day. If she does not like what you have picked out, including shoes, she takes them to her kennel, and gets you something else that she likes better for you to wear. I am so glad I took three pair of tennis shoes with me on this trip.

While walking Cali, everyone fell in love with her. The hotel owner, housekeeper, guests, yard workers, and each and every person she came in contact with. But, while walking her I managed to lose a necklace that I had been wearing for over 28 years. Joe wears the other half. It is a heart that states best friends with the date we got married and our names engraved on it. (June 18, 1977) Oh, the necklace was found, but not where you expected. You will find out later on in this devotion. No, it was not in Cali’s kennel, maybe the only thing that did not get into her kennel on that trip.

Friends when you are friendly to others and they see God in you, they will go out of their way to help you. The hotel had all their employees, including the people blowing the leaves off the sidewalk, looking for my necklace. I told them I could have bought another one for under $50.00, but that one was just sentimental. They were so determined to find that necklace for me.

Remember, when you show God’s Love, God will always have someone there to help you when you need help. Someone asked me if it frightened me to be alone at the hotel. I said, “no.” I know that I have a big God, and He is in control. I know that when I pray, study His word, and take the time to have an intimate relationship with Him, He will watch over me. He will protect me from anything that tries to come against me and harm me. So why should I be afraid?

Psalm 91 ¹ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” ³ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. ⁴ He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. ⁵ You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, ⁶ nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. ⁷ A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand but it will not come near youPart 2 of the story will be tomorrow’s devotion. Remember, we have not even reached the flea and tick part yet. And remember, it was not Cali that had the problem. LOL

Oh, the names have not been changed to protect the innocent.

Part 2
The Adventures of Pastor Pat and Ca

Cali came to us via her Aunt Tara. Again, I said, “how did I get involved with this situation? And little did I know that Cali and I would soon become traveling partners.

When we first brought Cali to our house, our dogs, Sara and Katie, thought, “Oh no! What is this thing?”

Sara whispering to her, “Now here is how it is, if you do not piddle on the floor, you will get Grandma to do anything for you. Now take my advice on this, okay?.”

Well, all I can say is Cali listened pretty good. And she is an excellent traveler.
We left Florida for Cusseta, Georgia, on February 23rd. Cali in tow in the back seat, in her portable kennel. Iris riding shotgun, and of course, myself driving.

Why were we going to Georgia anyway? Remember, to put Cali on a plane for California, which would leave from Atlanta, something that has not happened yet.

Again, how do you handle change in your schedule, or your plans? You listen to God and just do it. Do not stress over it, just go with the flow.
So, while passing from Florida to Atlanta we would be going right by our dear friends’ house, Junior and Frances. How did I meet these people down in Georgia? My daddy was in civil service at Ft. Benning, and my family lived in Cusseta when I was in the 4th through 9th grades.

I would have gone to Cusseta School for the 10th grade, but our school was burned to the ground the night before the first day of desegregation was to begin. So, we were bussed to Buena Vista, Georgia, to attend school.

I also walked the aisle at Cusseta Baptist Church at the age of 10, to give my life to God to be a Missionary, to preach His word. And of course First Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama is where I was saved at the age of 5 years old. So, traveling and ministering through my old stomping grounds was an honor for me. “God is so Good. All the time God is Good.”

Oh, I also had my very first double date there in Cusseta, one week before I turned 16. My daddy was not happy at all with the decision of Mama letting me go to the party. Only 3 houses down from our house. LOL

Anyway we dated for over a year, until my daddy retired and we moved to Louisiana. Don’t tell Joe, (I got my first kiss in Cusseta.) Hey, it does not bother Joe. We went to a class reunion there, and Joe got a picture of me giving Jim a hug, and him hugging me back. My girls said, “Mom, he was and is cute.” They showed pictures of us in school. I told them to look at their dad, I have pretty good taste. LOL

This is the reason I was excited about visiting old friends. What a time we had. Even Cali was welcome in their home. I called them ahead of time and made sure. As you can see below, they gave her a nice place to sleep the one night we were there. Now, they were, as my sister Ruby, not really pleased about it, but they helped us out in our need.

Oh, by the way, since Cali stayed in their home, well they say that they blame it on me. LOL They now have a 5 pound puppy. A Yorkie. Hummmm? Cali must have touched their sweet hearts with her sweet heart.

After arriving at their home, I asked Frances if I could do some wash. She said please go ahead, make yourself at home. So, I got my dirty clothes out of the car and took them to the utility room. Frances had told me she had some clothes in the washer and dryer, but as soon as they were removed I could wash them.

I continued to get our things out of the car, and got Cali settled and walked her. Then she ate, and was ready for a long nap.

Junior and Frances were so surprised that Cali did not bark or whine one time. She is such a good puppy.

While I was there, another friend, Judy, dropped in to visit and I forgot the wash. We began talking about the Lord, and praying for her brother, Peter, and time flew by so fast. It must have been over an hour, because the next thing I knew, Frances had already started the first load, and began to put it in the dryer. She came into the living room, and in her hand was… guess what? My necklace. Yes, the necklace was somewhere in my clothes all day long the day I lost it. I realized that it was not on my neck when we were at Iris’ granddaughter’s house in Florida around lunch time, so I went over 12 hours with the necklace in my clothes somewhere. I still do not know how nor where.

Listen, we even went out to eat that night at the Cracker Barrel, and the necklace still stayed in my clothes. That is also the night Iris’ granddaughter came back to the hotel, helped me look for my necklace, and I even called myself checking my clothes while they were still on me. That is also the night that I was down on the floor picking up millions and zillions of pieces of telephone book. And that necklace miraculously did not fall out of my clothes. And because I got so hot and sweaty looking for the necklace and cleaning up after Cali, I pulled my clothes off and put in the dirty clothes bag. I usually would wear a pair of jeans two days in a row. But not that night. I only wore those jeans once. (See, God still doing His thing.)

See how good God is to us if we are living according to His word? He knows the desires of our heart and things that are so special to us, even small things like a necklace.

John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you can asked what you will and it shall be!!!

See, that little word, “IF.” If you are following this verse, you will only want what God wants for you, and your desires shall be God’s desires also.

God knew I loved that necklace, and He allowed it to hang somewhere in my clothes, and not fall off the entire day. Again, even while I was on the floor picking up pieces of the phone book that Cali and shredded.

Hey, you may have some tough times, but know that God is always there for you. I did not like having to clean the room after Cali’s assault attack on the phone book, but I did not get mad, I just told her NO! Bad! and starting cleaning the room. Afterwards, she walked up to the side of the bed, and wanted me to pick her up. I did and she told me she was sorry, by giving me a lot of sweet puppy kisses on the side of my neck. I will not let any dog kiss me on the face, and I do not allow dogs in my bed also, but wait until about Part 4 of this series.

The tiny chain was in a hundred little knots. But between Junior, Frances and Iris, they got them all out by using a needle. The heart was not even hurt in the wash. Hey, another miracle, the small necklace did not spin out and down the drain while the washer was in spin cycle. God doing His thing again.

We had the best time. Frances cooked the most delicious Taco Soup and homemade cornbread. I was in hog heaven. She put broccoli and cheese in her cornbread. Honey, it was so good that it would make you as we say in the south, ‘want to slap your grandma.’ LOL (not really we respect our elders. It is just a saying.”

Another friend, Hubert, and his family, came for supper, and he brought deer chili. I had already filled up on the soup, but I told Hubert I wanted to taste his chili and see if he was a good cook. I said now I only want just a little, like barely 1/4 of a bowl. I can tell you that he does not know his measurements, because I also inquired how much hot sauce was in the chili. He said he only put a teaspoon in the pot. I reminded him I may have been born in Louisiana, but my stomach was now North Carolina. Again, he must have been sick the day they studied measurements in school. My first bite was I thought okay, but then by the second, steam was coming out my ears. He was laughing at me, and saying, “Pat you do not need to finish it.” I tried a little more to be polite, but soon handed him the bowl and asked to look at the teaspoon he used. The chili was delicious, and if my mama was alive she would have enjoyed seeing all these friends grown up, and doing so well, and she could have eaten Hubert’s chili. She ate hot and spicy things, until just a few weeks before she took her Heavenly Journey Home, at the age of 93.

After company left, we sat around talking about old times, and of course the Lord. I prayed for Frances’ body to be healed, and we had church. Then we all went to bed. The next morning we got up, packed and headed for Louisiana.

Now remember from last nights story, ticks, and me walking Cali when I got to Georgia, and in Georgia several times. Well, tomorrow you will learn a little more of that story. Also, look forward to Cali and the Cows, Iris and the Crawfish boil, Hunter’s Chapel, Revival, Ice Cream and much more.
Please know that change happens. It sometimes happens for a reason and a season. Do not worry, just hold on to God.

Life Is Not A Crap Shoot

Life Is Not A Crap Shoot

When seeking God’s will for your life have you ever gotten your Bible down and told God, now God, I am going to open my Bible to your scripture and the first scripture I read, I know will be what I am supposed to do. (Now, be honest, I do not want to have to pray for you. I know I am not the only one who has ever done that.) But, when I did let my Bible fall open to a page and started reading, it was not what I wanted to hear, so I tried it again. You know 2 out of 3 wins.

God has let me know real fast that He or His Word is not like shooting craps.

Sometimes I want to know more. I want to be able to make the right decisions for my life. I don’t want to go outside of the will of God and find myself flailing about in the midst of consequences I actually bring upon myself. I want more than anything to stay within the pathway He sets before me. And while I want one thing, I have to accept the fact that what I want may not be the best choice for me or for others. Ultimately, I want God’s best. I take seriously the larger decisions in my life. I think everything I do works together with God’s plan to build up His kingdom and grow me spiritually. I have various folks in my life who influence my thinking; sometimes they just add to my confusion. Do I have an Amen to that last statement.

We sometimes allow things and people into our lives that God had not planned for us. When this happens, God does not change the landscape of our lives and put those things and people in His arrangement. He will try to straighten out the mess we have made when we let Him. Key, when we let Him.

“For this world’s wisdom is foolishness with God, for it is written, He lays hold of the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knows the thoughts and reasonings of the wise and recognizes how futile they are.” 1 Corinthians 3:19-20.

We try to reason everything out and the more we reason, the more we seek another’s counsel, the less we know and the more muddled our thoughts become. That is when I retreat. I actually stop talking to people about my quandary, my crossroad. I sit quietly before the Lord and ask Him for His wisdom. I rest until I have a clear answer. That can be daunting. Sometimes the answer seems totally out of sync with anything I’ve been advised. I don’t know about you, but most times God leads me to act, not on logic, but on faith. The leap may be frightening. I tend to argue with God in these times, just like Moses saying he couldn’t speak before Pharaoh. So God gives him Aaron to go along and help him. Sometimes I think all the things God used to make Pharaoh let Israel go, was to show Moses the power of God’s might. I relate well to old Moses. But that is because I take my eyes off God and put them on myself. Moses was more concerned with his inadequacy than God’s adequacy. Logic sees as far as one can see before the jump; faith sees God at the end of the jump. From that vantage point, we catapult with courage, knowing He provides a safe landing.

The Star Spangled Banner

IF, My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (II Chronicles 7:14)

People are challenging other people to put a Flag up in their yards.

Joe and I have always had a flag up at our home.

We believe in what it stands for and the price our soldiers paid in battle so we can have the Freedom to let Ole Glory wave high above our nation.

Please remember if you put a real flag up in your yard, that at night it should always have a light shining on the flag.

Below is a little information about the The Star Spangled Banner the U.S. National Anthem in 1931, that was written about the American Flag, and the words to the complete song. You can also listen to the song.

The Star Spangled Banner
In 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote the poem, Defense of Fort McHenry. The poem was later put to the tune of (John Stafford Smith’s song) The Anacreontic Song, modified somewhat, and retitled The Star Spangled Banner. Congress proclaimed The Star Spangled Banner the U.S. National Anthem in 1931.

Inspired Cause Behind The Star Spangled Banner
It all started for Francis Scott Key when one of his real good affiliates – Doctor William Beanes – was taken by the British Navy as a prisoner of war after he was charged with aiding the authorities from the other side in the capture of British combatants. Aboard on a truce mission, Francis Scott Key was accompanied by John Stuart Skinner to head the expedition pertaining to an exchange of POWs i.e. Prisoners of War. As they sailed their way towards the British naval forces carrying a white truce flag, both Key & Skinner were hosted to dinner by Vice Admiral Alexander Cochrane & Maj. Gen. Robert Ross. The four men had dinner and the two British officers talked about their war plans.

The Misfortune
Unfortunately, since Skinner & Key had heard the two British officers talking about their plans with regards to the attack they intended to launch on Baltimore, they were detained as captives till after the Baltimore skirmish. As the night grew darker and the thunder of the bombardment grew louder, Francis Scott Key had no way to find out what the outcome of the battle had been. As he woke up in the morning and his eyes witnessed the American flag soaring high in the air on top of the fort, he could not contain his happiness at the sight of American triumph and inked The Star Spangled Banner – referring to the American flag he saw – on the back side of a letter he found in his pocket.

OH, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro’ the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro’ the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro’ the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Have you ever just felt like throwing your hands up and screaming? If you say NO, I will pray for you because we all have felt this way at sometimes in our lives.

As each of you that read Coffee With Pat daily, you know that CWP has not been able to post on the website. It seems that there is one problem after another. I have at times become very irate over this situation. But, I pray that I have finally figured it out. I hope I have finally learned the new program to work on the CWP site.

As of 2015 and thanks to Mark Reynolds, I can work on website with no problems. Even post from my IPhone.

I know that some of you maybe thinking, Pat, there are people who are sick, depressed, angry, and have so many more problems and issues then you not being able to work website at the computer.

Well, my answer to this is, “that is the exact reason I need to be able to post devotions and maybe say something that may help those persons in their time of despair.

Since 1996 Coffee With Pat has touched so many lives for the glory of God. People have been saved, healed and even stopped from taking their lives because they came across Coffee With Pat while searching the web for an answer to their hopelessness. So, now you may understand while I have been in despair myself, when I have not been able to post on the daily devotion site.

See, there may have been someone out there who needs a touch from God’s hands and heart, and just possibly, the Word the Lord gave me to share on a certain day, or even today, touched them and turned their lives around.

More of this devotion coming later….My car is ready to pick up at garage before they close. LOL.

Yes, see, I do not have someone or a group that do the devotions for me. I do each and everyone with the good Lord and me. And, yes, just like you, I have other things that come up, just like my car leaking transmission fluid after I had it changed. I am one person as you are and I am just human with daily things to take care of just like you do…

Well, I am back. They put a new seal around the pan from changing the transmission fluid. I should be able to put a couple 300 thousand on my 2007 Chyrsler 300.

Someone asked me why don’t I buy a new car? I said, “why”? There is nothing wrong with the one I have and it is pay for, and besides, I do not have any idea what I would want to buy.

I can hardly believe Easter Time has come and gone, and it seems we have just celebrated Christmas.

When I think of Easter, I think of Mary annointing Jesus feet. She once was a broken person, but, Jesus touched her. Because Jesus had touched her and gave her a new life, the Holy Spirit spoke her to anoint Jesus, preparing Him for the steps He would soon take to walk the Road to Calvary.

I love the story of Jesus, Mary and the Alabaster Box.

I often tell people, “do not judge others by what you see, because you do not know what is in their Alabaster Box!”Pat Aman

She broke a box of ointment and poured it on Jesus. This ointment was valued at 300 pence. A pence was the daily wage of the average worker. Therefore, in modern terms, it was worth about $15,000.00. This spikenard was produced from a rare plant that grew in India. It was very expensive and many people saved for years to be able to provide this for their own funeral preparations. However, this woman, poured it out on the Lord Jesus.

Some Preachers teach on the subject of how expenses the oil/perfume cost. Others teach that it meant Mary was giving her best, her all.

But, I think of it this way. ‘What was really in Mary’s Alabaster Box?

I like to imagine that as she broke the vessel so that she might extract every drop of ointment for use on the Lord Jesus, she was also showing Jesus every broken part of herself.

The vessel was her broken life, filled with the oil of all the hurts, sorrow, jealousy, hatred, disappointments and even happiness that she had experienced.

Yes, she had paid a great price in her life, the way she had lived, but, Jesus only saw the broken vessel as clay that He could mold into a beautiful vase. And he did not judge or smell the unpleasant odor of her sins, but the sweet smelling aroma of her love and her willingness to scarified everything to follow her Lord and Savior.

Whatever you may think about when reading this story, Mary gave all she had to Jesus for His glory! She totally opened herself up to Him. She did not try to hide one part of herself.

I wonder have we broken the Alabaster Box of our lives and poured out ourselves, every drop for Him? All the broken of our sinful lives.

God is seeking people who have surrendered everything they have, everything they are and everything they hope to be. He is looking for people who will assume the place of servants before Him. He is looking for those who will merely respond when He speaks to them. He is looking for those about whom He can say, “They have done what they could.”

I think of Apostle Paul also when I read this story. In 2 Timothy 4, he says,
“6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

I think that after Mary anointed Jesus, she also, felt the very same way that Paul did.

God Give To Each A Special Gift

Ephensions 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;Vs.12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:Vs.13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

1 CORINTHIANS 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

God Gave and God Sets

* These ministry offices and gifts are given and set in the church by the Lord.

Question: Are they still for today?

Answer: Do people still need a miracle? a healing? helps? etc.

Question: Are there still Apostles. Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers today?

Answer: In the above scripture, why were they given?

1. For the perfecting of the saints.
2. For the work of the ministry.
3. For the edifying of the body of Christ. ( church )

Question: For how long were they given?

Answer: 1. Until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the
Son of God.
2. Unto a perfect man, unto the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Has the church come into unity yet?

Is the church perfected yet?

Is the church presenting the fullness of Christ?

Does the church still need edifying?

* Anyone that is familiar with the church must realize that these gifts and callings are
still needed today.

Each office of the five fold ministry; Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher, carries its own distinct anointing and has its own individual work. For these offices to work together, and accomplish the building up of the body of Christ; they must recognize their differences and be yielded and submitted to one another. Each of these offices are directly responsible to the Lord Jesus Christ and are directed by the Holy Spirit, to the work of service.

Directed by the Holy Ghost

ACTS 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

ACTS 8:26-40 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
Vs.29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

ACTS 10:19-20 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
Vs.20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

ACTS 16:6-10 Vs.6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and wereforbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia.

Each Must Recognize its Limitations

ACTS 8:14-17   Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Vs.15   Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Vs.16   ( For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Vs.17   Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Question: Why didn’t Philip pray and lay his hands on them, that they might get the Holy Ghost?

1 CORINTHIANS 12:29-30 Are all apostles? are allprophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Vs.30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

* No one person has it all, gifts, callings, etc. We must recognize our individual gifts and that of others. We need each other and should be willing to yield.

I do believe that some are able to flow in and work in all parts of the Five Fold Ministry. Why?

I feel God allows certain person to function in each area, in as the Leadership Head. When you have a leader who works in each, they are able to recognize people in the church and their gifting. And they are then able to help grow the person with God giving them wisdom.

A Pastor should be able to walk in each of these sittings, so they can make sure the persons God has honored them to lead, can grow and fulfil that gift to give God glory and Honor.

For if the leader does not understand each ministry, then how can they teach each ministry position.

Why Go To Church

WHY GO TO CHURCH

Hebrews 10: 23-25 23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So I think I’m wasting time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals, but for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!” When you are DOWN to nothing …. God is UP to something! Stop Important

I KNOW MOST OF YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY SEEN THIS BUT I JUST THOUGHT I’D PASS IT ALONG IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T OR YOU NEED SOME REMINDING (CAUSE I KNOW I NEED REMINDING ALL THE TIME)…HOPE EVERYONE IS SAFE, HEALTHY AND
FULL OF LOVE AND HAPPINESS…

Ten Guidelines From God
Effective immediately, please be aware that there are changes YOU need to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this life. I apologize for any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this seems very little to ask of you. Please,follow these 10 guidelines

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and
worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way .

2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care of the problem. I can’t help you until you turn it over to Me. And although My to-do-list is long, I am after all… God. I can take care of anything you put into My hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really known, I take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

3. TRUST ME:
Once you’ve given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on My list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list.
Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don’t wake up one morning and say, “Well, I’m feeling much stronger now, I think I can handle it from here.”
Why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It’s simple. You gave Me your burdens and I’m taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in my peace. Don’t you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just let Me do my job.

5. TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy. Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I’m in control. But there’s one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don’t forget to talk to Me – OFTEN! I love YOU! I want to hear your voice.
I want you to include Me in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with Me. I want to be your dearest friend.

6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you can’t see from where you are. Have faith in Me that I know what I’m doing. Trust Me; you wouldn’t want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you, watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me.
Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies.
Share with those who are less fortunate than you.
Share your joy with those who need encouragement.
Share your laughter with those who haven’t heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none.

8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs manytimes, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How
can you be so impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something on My to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always rush, rush, rush.

9. BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but I still love you all. Please try to get along, for My sake. I
created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your differences.

10. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself?
You were created by me for one reason only — to be loved, and to love in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes My heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to me. Don’t ever forget……

What Is On Your Bucket List?

What is on your bucket list?

What is something that you may need to conquer, face or maybe just complete in your life?

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (Philippians 1:6)

We must believe that we were created by God for a special assignment for him. We are not here by mistake, and we are not a mistake.

Remember, God’s Word.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

So, let’s set our eyes on the brass ring as they say, and grab it.

Because, Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)

I Thirst For You Lord

The Adventures of Cali and Pastor Pat

Part 1

Today’s devotion maybe a little long, but I feel I cannot leave out ONE detail. This devotion will probably be a three part devotion over the next few days.

I want to share with you how I know that God is working through His people. Well, at least the ones whom are willing to be a vessel for Him, and the ones whom will go with the flow when PLANS HAVE CHANGED OR HAVE BEEN REARRANGED.

I promise you with my hand up in the air that this devotion is the truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.

Now, on with the story. I just returned from a ministry trip/short vacation/supposedly deliver a dog to the airport.

Why not do all these things Mama, since you are going that way. LOL

So I called my sister, Ruby, and said, “Ruby , I can come your way now, but I will have a puppy with me, is that okay?” She agreed, no problem. So off we go to continue our trip. Pastor Pat, Iris, and now Cali. The Three Amigos.

Oh, before I stopped using Ms. Clairol, number no gray. LOL

We arrived in Florida, where I dropped Iris off at her grandchildren, and Cali and I headed to a hotel.

I DO!

Who Me? I did not do it.

I do not chew things. I plead not guilty.

Oh, the names have not been changed to protect the innocent.

Part 2 The Adventures of Pastor Pat and Ca

By the end of this series, you will see many miracles that God has performed, and how many people were touched, including myself, just because I was obedient and accepted change

Cali, first night in North Carolina, at Aunt Tara’s 2 pounds of love. As you can see in picture below, her toy and she were the same size.

Cali came to us via her Aunt Tara. Again, I said, “how did I get involved with this situation? And little did I know that Cali and I would soon become traveling partners.

When we first brought Cali to our house, our dogs, Sara and Katie, thought, “Oh no! What is this thing?”

Sara whispering to her, “Now here is how it is, if you do not piddle on the floor, you will get Grandma to do anything for you. Now take my advice on this, okay?.”

Well, all I can say is Cali listened pretty good. And she is an excellent traveler. We left Florida for Cusseta, Georgia, on February 23rd. Cali in tow in the back seat, in her portable kennel. Iris riding shotgun, and of course, myself driving.

Why were we going to Georgia anyway? Remember, to put Cali on a plane for California, which would leave from Atlanta, something that has not happened yet.

I would have gone to Cusseta School for the 10th grade, but our school was burned to the ground the night before the first day of desegregation was to begin. So, we were bussed to Buena Vista, Georgia, to attend school.

Oh, I also had my very first double date there in Cusseta, one week before I turned 16. My daddy was not happy at all with the decision of Mama letting me go to the party. Only 3 houses down from our house. LOL

Oh, by the way, since Cali stayed in their home, well they say that they blame it on me. LOL They now have a 5 pound puppy. A Yorkie. Hummmm? Cali must have touched their sweet hearts with her sweet heart.

I continued to get our things out of the car, and got Cali settled and walked her. Then she ate, and was ready for a long nap.

Junior and Frances were so surprised that Cali did not bark or whine one time. She is such a good puppy.

See how good God is to us if we are living according to His word? He knows the desires of our heart and things that are so special to us, even small things like a necklace.

John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you can asked what you will and it shall be!!!

See, that little word, “IF.” If you are following this verse, you will only want what God wants for you, and your desires shall be God’s desires also.

God knew I loved that necklace, and He allowed it to hang somewhere in my clothes, and not fall off the entire day. Again, even while I was on the floor picking up pieces of the phone book that Cali and shredded.

After company left, we sat around talking about old times, and of course the Lord. I prayed for Frances’ body to be healed, and we had church. Then we all went to bed. The next morning we got up, packed and headed for Louisiana.
