“God’s Promises to Protect His Children”<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nahum, whose name means, “Comforter” or “Full of Comfort,” is unknow except the brief caption that opens his prophecy. His identification an “Elkoshite” does not greatly, since the location of Elkosh is uncertain. Capernaum, the city in Galilee so prominent in the ministry of Jesus, means “Village of Nahum,” and some have speculated, but without solid proof, that its name derives from the prophet. He prophesied to Judah during the reigns of Manasseh, Amon, and Josiah. His comtemporaries \u00a0were Zephaniah, Habakkuk, and Jeremiah.<\/p>\n

In Nahum 3: 8-10, the prophet recounts the fate of the Egyuptian city of Thebes destroyed in 663B.C. and other cities such as Nineveh’s. So the following is a prophecy of what God will do it His people do not repent and come back to Him.<\/p>\n

`A key test of faith for God’s people comes when God judges the nations around them. For Christians, this can mean that God may judge the nation in which they live. He is able to protect and spare His people from judgement that fall even on their neighbors.<\/p>\n

Nahum chapter one shows us how God will save a repented people, destroy an unrepented people <\/span><\/p>\n

In verse 7, shows us that we should trust that God is good! He is a place of safety for us when we are in trouble. He is faithful to care for those who trust Him to do so.<\/p>\n

In verses 12-13, We need to believe that God is willing and able to deliver us from any bondage. Know that He will eventually stop any attack upon us.<\/p>\n

And in verse 18, we must hear and believe the good news of deliverance from our soul’s enemy through Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

1\u00a0<\/span>A prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord<\/span>\u2019s Anger Against Nineveh<\/span><\/h3>\n
\n

2\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord<\/span> is a jealous and avenging God;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the Lord<\/span> takes vengeance and is filled with wrath.<\/span><\/span>
\nThe Lord<\/span> takes vengeance on his foes<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and vents his wrath against his enemies.<\/span><\/span>
\n3\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord<\/span> is slow to anger but great in power;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the Lord<\/span> will not leave the guilty unpunished.<\/span><\/span>
\nHis way is in the whirlwind and the storm,<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and clouds are the dust of his feet.<\/span><\/span>
\n4\u00a0<\/sup>He rebukes the sea and dries it up;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>he makes all the rivers run dry.<\/span><\/span>
\nBashan and Carmel wither<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.<\/span><\/span>
\n5\u00a0<\/sup>The mountains quake before him<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and the hills melt away.<\/span><\/span>
\nThe earth trembles at his presence,<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the world and all who live in it.<\/span><\/span>
\n6\u00a0<\/sup>Who can withstand his indignation?<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Who can endure his fierce anger?<\/span><\/span>
\nHis wrath is poured out like fire;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the rocks are shattered before him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

7\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord<\/span> is good,<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>a refuge in times of trouble.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nHe cares for those who trust in him,<\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>but with an overwhelming flood<\/span><\/span>
\nhe will make an end of Nineveh;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

9\u00a0<\/sup>Whatever they plot against the Lord<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>he will bring \u00a0to an end;<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>trouble will not come a second time.<\/span><\/span>
\n10\u00a0<\/sup>They will be entangled among thorns<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and drunk from their wine;<\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>they will be consumed like dry stubble. <\/span><\/span>
\n11\u00a0<\/sup>From you, Nineveh, has one come forth<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>who plots evil against the Lord<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and devises wicked plans.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

12\u00a0<\/sup>This is what the Lord<\/span> says:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAlthough they have allies and are numerous,<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>they will be destroyed and pass away.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nAlthough I have afflicted you, Judah,<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>I will afflict you no more.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n13\u00a0<\/sup>Now I will break their yoke from your neck<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and tear your shackles away.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord<\/span> has given a command concerning you, Nineveh:<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u201cYou will have no descendants to bear your name.<\/span><\/span>
\nI will destroy the images and idols<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>that are in the temple of your gods.<\/span><\/span>
\nI will prepare your grave,<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>for you are vile.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

15\u00a0<\/sup>Look, there on the mountains,<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the feet of one who brings good news,<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>who proclaims peace!<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nCelebrate your festivals, Judah,<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>and fulfill your vows.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nNo more will the wicked invade you;<\/span><\/strong>
