Ephesians 6:10-18,says:”Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty
\npower. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against
\nthe devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
\nagainst the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark
\nworld and against the spititual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
\nTherefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes,
\nyou may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to
\nstand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around yur waist,
\nwith the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted
\nwith the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all
\nthis, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the
\nflaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
\nof the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all
\noccasions with all kinds!\u00a0 of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on
\npraying for all the saints.<\/p>\n
Everyone felt afraid of the Philistine giant, Goliath. He towered
\nover nine feet tall. He wore a bronze helmet, bronze leg plates, and a
\nbronze javeline was strapped to his back. In his huge hand, he carried a
\nspear. The point alone possibly weighedeabout twenty pounds. His shield
\nbeared walked or ran before him.Goliath told David to come here and I will
\ngive your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. David
\nsaid to the Philistine, “You come against me with a sword,spear and javelin,
\nbut I come in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of
\nIsrail, whom you have defied.” I Samuel 17:44<\/p>\n
Before this, young David had taken his staff in hand, stooped down,
\nand picked up five smooth stones and placed them in a pouch. With a
\nShepherd’s staff in one hand and a sling in the other he approched the
\ngiant.\u00a0 With one stone He flung the stone, it hit Goliath in the head and
\nkilled him.<\/p>\n
The key to this scripture is He came in the name of the Lord.\u00a0 What
\nare the giants in your life?\u00a0 How can God help you overcome them? I believe
\nit is good not only to pray, but to turn to His Word for the answers.\u00a0 There
\nare directions and power in prayer and God’s Word.<\/p>\n
Whatever these giants are in our lives, we must not run from them. We
\nmust face them head-on as David did with Goliath. Put on your spiritual
\narmor and stand firm, unfraid, trusting God for strenght. The exciting thing
\nabout all this is when we put on the full armor of God and obey Him, then we
\ncan stand back, call TIMBERRRR– and watch the giant fall!<\/p>\n
